Tieman Tire of Bloomington Inc
This is a no frills tire dealer that offers a lot of different brands and sizes at very competitive prices. The people there are very courteous and get you in and out in a very timely fashion. They offer free flat repairs and free tire rotations on the tires you buy from them. I was going to order a set of tires online, but found that by the time I paid freight and paid someone else to put them on, I wasn't saving any money and had to pay every time I had a flat or needed the tires rotated. I personally bought a set of Michelin tires there and have found them to be the best tires I have ever had. They do nothing but sell tires (no undercar service) so there was no pressure to fix this or that. I needed an alignment on my car and they merely pointed this out to me, and suggested a couple of different shops to do the work I needed. I am a customer for life.
JB's Salvage & Recycling
Going to JB's Salvage in Bloomington Indiana is one of the best places to go. They treat you right and you dont have to worry about being screwed out of your money. I was going to the Adkins Recycling in Martinsville In and will never go there again. They do not help you when you need it. They have employees there that dont care about the customers. They tell you one price and pay another. But here at JB's you do not have to worry about that. They treat you right. Thank you JB for doing a fantastic job. I will drive the extra miles to get to you.

I don't have much good to say about this place. I once took my car there to get an estimate on how much it would cost to fix it. When I came back later, they told me it it would cost over $600 to replace some parts, and then they could diagnose it and tell me the cost to fix it!! I then went to the library and studied auto manuals and discovered what was wrong, about a $400 repair. NONE OF THE PARTS THAT THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE WERE BAD! I don't think they were dishonest, just incompetent!

I got my oil changed and had them conduct a diagnostic test on why my car sound like it was an airliner. Long story short, they underestimated the work that needed to be done and barely charged me for the additional work. I was extreme pleased with their honesty and fairness in price. I will be going back for all other issues. I even brought them cookies to thank them for their hospitality and they were very appreciative. Brenda is rude. Mike and Jim were WONDERFUL to work with.

Royal Volkswagen Of Bloomington
I have done a lot of business with Royal on the Eastside over the years. I bought two Nissans with them about 18 years ago, and all of the service for those cars has been done by them. The quality of the vehicles were great when I purchased them and they make sure the condition is great when they return them to you. I am really happy with things there, and I will continue to go there when I am ready to buy another car.

Tieman Tire of Bloomington Inc
Swung into the Bloomington Tieman Tire today 5 minutes before closing time half expecting to be shooed away but instead received excellent customer service! I managed to pick up a nail in one of my tires and they graciously repaired it free of charge, staying overtime to do so. These guys have been helping my family out for years and I would highly recommend going to them for any tire or wheel service you may need!

Walmart - Tire & Lube Express
Overall they do a pretty good job. But I had my oil changed there and told them that I would just shop around in the store. They evidently totally forgot to call me. I wound up going back there after about an hour and a half, and it had been done for quite a while.

Royal Volkswagen Of Bloomington
The first time I heard about Royal on the Eastside was on one of their television ads. I have bought all my cars there since then, because my first time buying there was great. I have sent my friends and family there to buy from them and they have been happy too.

Other car salesmen are crooks, but I truly trust Craig and his staff at Royal on the Eastside. I have bought multiple cars from them and other family members of mine have as well. We've had nothing but positive experiences with them.

Tips & Advices
Yes. New tires purchased online can often be priced lower than ones at a tire dealership. Buyers can often avoid state sales taxes and locate hard-to-find tire styles and sizes, but will still have to locate a local tire installer and pay sometimes high shipping costs.
The average cost of a set of new tires is $637, with a range of between $525-$725. In addition, installation includes mounting and balancing, alignment, and disposal of old tires.
The vehicle is raised and the old wheels are removed, then the old tires are removed from the wheels. The lug nuts, wheels, and valve stems are inspected and replaced as needed. The new tires are mounted and sealed, then inflated and balanced. The wheels are then replaced on the car. The average installation takes approximately 45 minutes.
Agencies such as the Tire Industry Association promotes tire safety through advocacy and education to the industry including: manufacture, sales, repair, service and recycling. Seek a full-service tire dealer who carries a wide variety of tire types and brands and asks about the type of driving you normally do.
  • Move your car to a safe location.
  • Turn on your car’s safety lights, apply the parking brakes and remove the hubcap if there is one.
  • Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench (but do not remove them), raise the vehicle with a jack and then fully remove the lugnuts.
  • Remove the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire.
  • Tighten the lug nuts by hand, lower the car and then tighten them fully with the lug wrench.
