Trying to eat healthy on a busy schedule is never easy. So, the Rockland County Health Department says a group of 21 local restaurants has stepped up to share nutritional information about menu items as a way to help educate the public about healthy food options.
Rockland Health Commissioner Dr. Joan Facelle said the Health’s Steps to a Healthier Rockland Program encourages residents to take steps toward a healthier lifestyle by making informed decisions when dining out. As part of that effort, the Healthier Dining Restaurant Program offers nutrition calculation information to restaurants.
“Every meal offers a chance to make a healthier choice and the Department of Health wants to help make that choice an educated one,” Facelle said, noting that healthier entrées are those that are baked, broiled, grilled or steamed, reduced in fat, and made of whole grains.
