Southern Pain Specialists
I had 2 visits with Dr. Carl Frosina and felt like I was just hearing my own self talking. He was not friendly nor did he remember anything we talked about from my first visit. I had to ask him about my MRI. To which he asked, "did you have an MRI?" He also forgot the meds I was taking and I had to list them again. He told me to stop taking one drug that he had told me to continue to take on the first visit. Wasted trip.

My mother went in severe back pain and an MRI was done. She was given nothing for pain at all that day and was told that she would know on Monday about the MRI. On Wednesday at 3:30 she was finally called and told that she had a compressed vertebrae fracture and that someone could come get some pain prescription for her. She is 93 years old and does not drive so her son in law had to go from Hueytown to Center Point then wait an hour for the prescription (dr had said it would be ready< but they had to get him out of surgery to sign it) Then take it to Gardendale and get it filled and get it to my mother. He also said he wanted her to see a spine specialist and that he would set up the appt. So far we have heard nothing about an appointment and since he did not do anything else he said he would do, why would we think he would do that appt. I have never seem a place that was more disorganized and a dr that just told you what you wanted to hear and did not follow up. We will NOT be seeing this dr again with my mother and we will NOT reccommend this dr to anyone. My mother's name is Virginia Heinl. She was made to hurt from Friday until Thursday because the dr did not think it was important to give her anything for pain on the Friday when she had the MRI. He could tell she was hurting, that is just not right.

Lowery, Trent D, MD
Dr. Lowery did an excellent job with the surgery. However, when the follow up visits were filed with my insurance, he filed each visit as an additional surgery causing me ridiculous co-pays. Everyone knows that necessary follow up visits after surgery should be included with the surgery and there should be no charge. I have went around and around with his office. They will not be seeing me again. How awful are they to be taking me and my insurance for a ride like this? I recommend steering clear!!!

The Doctor and her staff has always been great .I have been in their care for 8 going on 9 years now. They are the best if I need a refill call in its done unless they need to check me out to see if the meds are working. I ask for 1 med and she said no and I knew I didn't need it which was good for me .She doesn't give out meds if you don't need it doc and her staff are the best .Always happy to see her and her staff Jackie

The best ob/gyn practice in Birmingham. From the receptionists to the physicians, nurses, technicians, and the exit clerks as you leave the office, everyone is helpful, professional, and seems genuinely wanting to help you. I was very anxious about needing surgery, but throughout the process my questions were answered and I was reassured. My actual surgery went so well that it was barely a pause in my normal life! Thanks to all of you!!!

Every time I come here; I wait for almost 2 hrs. After my appointment. Why rush to get here and have to wait for almost 2 hrs. Or more. Don't know if it's worth it.

Bouchard Alain Dr
I went in to the hospital in 2014 with what I thought was a heartattck. Dr Bouchard came in daily and checked on me not convinced it was a heart attack. He set me up for an angiogram and while waiting I went into a what I call a bad spell I couldn't breathe and didnt know what was happening and Dr Bouchard and his team went to work turned out I was in congestive heart failure. He took great care of me and has been working with me ever since. He also recommended and got me in with an awesome rheumatologist who works directly with him. Together I am better than ever! His staff and team are awesome
Tips & Advices
Several forms of pain management exist that are not approved typically treated by physicians or covered by health insurance plans. These include therapies like acupuncture, for example, or herbal preparations sold in stores. Before beginning any form of treatment or medication not approved by a doctor, it’s a good idea to still reach out to a physician or expert in alternative medicine for advice, or conduct some research online first.
Managing pain in children can be complicated, as kids may have more difficulty communicating their pain to doctors. Children also need to be more carefully monitored when taking most medications.
Health insurance might cover a selection of approved pain management therapies. Every insurance plan is different, so patients should check with their provider to make sure.
Patients might be instructed to continue therapy at home, either through regular exercise or specific treatment. Some people also find that getting frequent rest, taking warm baths or avoiding certain foods, for example, can help manage pain.
Side effects depend on the exact drugs and dosages used, as well as the disease being treated and many other factors. Some pain-relieving drugs, especially opioids, are known to cause drowsiness. Many antidepressants also cause a variety of adverse effects. Doctors must work closely with patients to minimize these side effects in the course of treatment.
