P T L Auto & Tire Center
Tim, John, Brandon and all the guys at PTL - Thank You for running such a wonderful, caring business! When we first moved to Birmingham 5 years ago it was a nightmare finding reliable, honest service providers. We were ripped off by plumbers, electricians, auto repair shops, you name it we ran into all kinds of crooks, until we were referred to PTL.They do business the old fashioned way - they earn your trust by being trustworthy. No inflated estimates or recommendations of things you don't need. They fix things right and stand behind their work. I would recommend PTL to anyone who cares about being treated right.

Dale's Discount Tires
They never answer their phone. I made 174 calls yesterday. I began today 30 minutes prior to their opening time I have called over and over still won't pick up. People need to know if they have a certain size tire before sending their car there via tow truck but just won't answer. Have answering machine but it is never checked so it stays full. This is the third time over a year that I have tried for days. This is a common complaint amongst circles of people I know. They could put a 5.00 an hour person to answer and help people wild help so much.

Pearson Brothers Tire Center 3
After having trouble with a tire mount at Wal-Mart, I went to Pearsons about one week ago because it was closeby and I was pleasantly pleased with the overall service, professionalism and cleanliness of the establishment. The shop was spotless and very much in order, not what you would expect at a tire business. The manager in charge on Monday, 2/22 was extremely helpful and kind in taking care of my problem. I will definitely be back and most definitely recommend anyone having their tires serviced at this shop. 5 Stars!!

Eastlake Tire Center
HONEST AND EFFICIENT SERVICE! I go to East Lake Tire for all my tire needs. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a fix. They are honest about your best option. They'll suggest a tire patch (if possible) before they ever try to sell you a new tire. I appreciate that they don't just try to sell you a new tire every time. Great team. Great service. Great product.

Forestdale Discount Tire & Wheel
I was very pleased by my experience. I had a value stem repaired and purchased a replacement wheel. The wheel was a odd match but the service technician who assisted me was very patient and helpful. He made sure I received the correct size wheel by researching and taking time with me. I recommend and will definitely use their services again.

Tips & Advices
Yes. New tires purchased online can often be priced lower than ones at a tire dealership. Buyers can often avoid state sales taxes and locate hard-to-find tire styles and sizes, but will still have to locate a local tire installer and pay sometimes high shipping costs.
The average cost of a set of new tires is $637, with a range of between $525-$725. In addition, installation includes mounting and balancing, alignment, and disposal of old tires.
The vehicle is raised and the old wheels are removed, then the old tires are removed from the wheels. The lug nuts, wheels, and valve stems are inspected and replaced as needed. The new tires are mounted and sealed, then inflated and balanced. The wheels are then replaced on the car. The average installation takes approximately 45 minutes.
Agencies such as the Tire Industry Association promotes tire safety through advocacy and education to the industry including: manufacture, sales, repair, service and recycling. Seek a full-service tire dealer who carries a wide variety of tire types and brands and asks about the type of driving you normally do.
  • Move your car to a safe location.
  • Turn on your car’s safety lights, apply the parking brakes and remove the hubcap if there is one.
  • Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench (but do not remove them), raise the vehicle with a jack and then fully remove the lugnuts.
  • Remove the flat tire and replace it with the spare tire.
  • Tighten the lug nuts by hand, lower the car and then tighten them fully with the lug wrench.

Just a moment...
