so the owner is not that friendly but the rest of the staff is nice. You cant beat the prices and the sushi is pretty good. If not for the owner, I would give it a 5 star.
I've been going to Crazy Fish once in a while for a couple of years now but for the last 2 years there has been serious problems with their service and the quality of food they serve. They get orders totally wrong and their sushi has become a blab of scrambled nothingness, free of any real style or taste. Last night I was there again (for the last time) and was sitting for 45 minutes and when they brought our order, it was not only wrong, but just absolutely DISGUSTING the way it was made. And the owner and waiters have no people skills. AVIOD AT ALL COST!
First, be warned there is a 10% extra fee on pickup (Which is fine if they were honest). Let me tell you about my experience:
I placed a for pick up order which the owner confirmed to be a total of $27 and change and to come in 20 min. Once I arrived, the total magically became $37 and a extra item was added to my order.
Once I inquired about the $37 she told me she did make a mistake and now she turned the bill to $43 after she used her calculator again! When I asked about the extra item she told me ""too bad, that is what I heard, you pay for what I heard.""
After, I talked to my friend and he also told me about a shady experience he had with her a few months back. DO NOT TRUST HER!
Anyway, I ended up paying, and I really would have left at that point, but I had already waited 30 minutes (20 min before I came, and 10 min extra which they were late) and I was very hungry.
I?ve being their customer for 15 years! Obviously this is not real Japanese sushi (try Sasabune for that), but out of US fusion sushi this is a better one.
I was very surprised when reading the other reviews on the service at Crazy Fish . I figured they were either wrong or I am just lucky EVERY time I go. I have to go at least once a month but I generally go twice a month.
The prices rock and the quality is superb. The only problem I have when going is parking. Parking can be a real hassle but it's all worht it!
Horrible stay away bad service low staffing no service and you are forced to pay 18 % tip even if you are one person i had to get my own food from the counter and i asked for my bill took 30 minutes and she said hey you are not my table talk to ur server she was the server from start to end STAY AWAY BAD SERVICE
This place...oye. I quit going for 6 months because of the service (and the way they nickel and dime you to DEATH). Tonight I was really craving it so...yeah, unfortunately nothing has changed. Still the insane charges for everything and the service-or lack thereof-is so terrible that I have vowed I will never ever return. There is a waiter there (STILL-HOW???!!!) omg, I wanted to light a fire under his ass-LITERALLY! Lord almighty and then they have the audacity to add an auto gratuity?! You don't get a tip just for showing up to work buddy! Well, I guess at Crazy Fish you do...suxxx :(
I've tried many sushi restaurants in the L.A. area and had yet to be disappointed with the food or service - until I went to Crazy Fish.
Presentation isn't everything, however it is important to at least make some effort to make a plate of food look appetizing. I ordered two rolls that were massive and awkwardly put together, practically falling apart as I picked them up. My fiance' ordered a tuna sashimi salad that wasn't even served with mixed greens or Romaine lettuce, but with ICEBERG head lettuce (the type you buy at the grocery store for 59 cents).
This establishment seems to believe that quantity of food champions over quality, and I will also echo the previous reviews regarding the horrible service. I had to literally flag our waiter down to get:
1. A menu
2. A drink
3. A glass of water
4. Our check
When I received the check, I was actually insulted to find a ""16% gratuity charge"" that they tried to impose on our order. A very minimal tip was given and we left without a sound.
There was nothing unique or memorable about my experience at this restaurant and I would not recommend it to anyone. Rather - go down the street one block to Miru 8691on the corner of Olympic and Palm. Attractive food presentation, quality sushi and a relaxed atmosphere.
Let's face it...most people go to this place for the huge amount of rice they put in their sushi, that way you'll get full for less money. The quality of the sushi here is a ""5"" from 1 to 10 scale.
But what I can't understand, is how bad and rude the staff is.
The owners are a ""Class act of rudness"" so are the sushi chef's!!! (follow the leaders if you know what I meant).
I will never ever set a foot in this ugly place again!!!!!
If you like to give them your money and be treated really bad....this is definitely the place to go!
If you love a lot of rice...this is the place to go.
And if you want the sushi chef's to ignore you, and make you feel that you are bothering them....THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!!
