CADO was recommended me by one of my friends who purchased dining table and chairs with them. I was on a market looking for sectional and decided to visit them. What a great experience! If you look for high quality sofas this is a must see store in Connecticut. I am very satisfied with my sofa that was delivered few days ago.
Between September and December 2016, we bought a sofa, 8 dining chairs and a coffee table from Cado totaling $10,000.
The sofa is great.
The $1,400.00 coffee table was defective … and dangerous. The table is a “Modloft” “Kensington” table weighs 135 lbs. 6 days after delivery, a leg snapped off when my walked into the table leaving exposed nails in our newly refinished wood floors. When she tried to right the table, the top came off and struck her in the chest and stomach leaving large bruises. Imagine if she had been a child or pet …
We reported the incident to Cado next day and sent pictures. They asked for 3-4 days to contact the manufacturer for instructions. They didn't call us back. After 5, 7, 8 and 10 days, I called them. They said the manufacturer hadn’t responded. After 10 day’s I emailed requesting a refund.
Ultimately, the store owner (Marcin Gedek) agreed to setup a customer service visit. In his email, he said
“From gathering all the informations [I] provided, sounds for me that the table was damaged by accident when your wife accidentally hit the table with her leg. In order for Us or manufacturer to determine if this is defective table or the damage is caused mechanically by customer my visit is necessary. … please note that based on your email this coffee table was damaged by your wife accidentally and there is no refund or replacement available.
We agreed to a service call. Gedek made a cursory examination of our table and pronounced that, “based on the laws of physics, our incident report could not be true”. I knew how his visit would end.
We have placed the purchase into dispute and notified the better business bureau. We are posting this review on various social media.
Cado has nice stuff - most of it can be purchased on line with less trouble. We buy local when we can, in part to keep local businesses alive and in part to protect ourselves from product or service problems. In this case it was a mistake.
