Just went this past friday night and had a pretty decent time after we got over an encounter with the worst service we've ever experienced, no exaggeration. This bartender refused to give us a new drink when the plastic cup it was in was broken because he thought that we didn't tip him. We did have a pretty good time after this but it really was a bad way to start the night.

I've been to just about every bar in Belmar, but this one is by far my favorite. Unlike most other Belmar bars, Paul's tavern attracts partrons just looking for a fun night out rather than punks and drunks just looking for a fight. Paul's is very large in size, therefore even though it draws in a nice crowd, it did not get claustrophobic. The best time to come to Paul's is between September and June, so that you can avoid the tourists. Currently, part of the bar is being renovated, but the other half including the outside deck is still open (yes, you can smoke on the deck). They have a digital jukebox in which you can download just about any song you can think of, however most regulars prefer playing southern rock and some country. On the weekends, bands perform here starting at around 11pm. Try and get there before 10 to avoid the cover charge. I almost forgot the best part......they often have specials in which pitchers are only $2 for most of the evening. Always a fun night at Paul's Tavern and great bar staff!

Best Steak on the Jersey Shore!!! McCann's is a family-run business and our favorite place to take friends and family to on the Jersey shore in Belmar/Lake Como. All my kids love this place. I have 6 kids ranging from 10 to 26 years old 3 biological and 3 adopted and they ALL love the garlic steak with Sicilian fries. I love the seafood dishes. especially the Seafood Royal! The cook and owner is Tommy McCann and his son Tom Jr. also works there. His food is prepared right before your eyes and is excellent! I am a former assistant commissioner of health for New Jersey and president of the New Jersey Public Health association and I give McCann's my highest rating. It is a warm, friendly and fun place and indeed, everyone knows your name! It is a great place to go after hitting the beach or after work. Enjoy! Dr. Jim Brown

Jacks Tavern is a great little pub like restaurant that has great food and beer! =) Only complaint is that it's a little smoky but still a great place and have been a loyal customer for years. I would recommend eating and drinking there.

Christmas party! We ate at Fratellos for a holiday Christmas party. 40 people in their private dinning room. Everything was excellent. Great service handling such a large and demanding group. The Grouper seafood special was to die for! So was the Filet and stuffed shrimp special. The restaurant was decorated so nice for the holidays. We were also here during Restaurant Week and everything was terrific that night as well. Keep up the good work!

Replete with a massive wine collection sure to awe the pants off any oeniphile lucky enough to find it, The Saint's nonetheless pleasantly unassuming, in a medieval-meets-Martha Stewart cozy kind of way. Live jazz downstairs, casual conversation upstairs knowledgeable but attitude-free staff and a world in wine--the LES can't do better than this.

Conveniently located by the old Casino building at the southern end of the Asbury Park boardwalk, Stella Marina offers tasty Italian cuisine at an affordable price. The location and views are an added bonus.\r \r I was here for the first time the weekend before last and I got a very good first impression. The wait wasn't outrageous considering it was a Saturday night. My party and I each had a glass of wine at the bar at the downstairs bar and by the time we were done, we were being seated. \r \r The decor was modern, but warm. There were some very nice decorations including the light fixtures. There is a downstairs and upstairs seating area (as well as bars and seasonal outside areas for both). We sat upstairs and had a very nice view of the ocean.\r \r Our server was very nice and attentive the entire visit. She checked on us a few times and seemed genuinely interested in our having an enjoyable dining experience.\r \r The food was very good and reasonably priced. We all paid less than $20 per entree and the portions were just the right size.\r \r It was somewhat noisy, but not anymore so than any other restaurant on a busy Saturday night.\r \r Overall, I was impressed. I will be back and I recommend Stella Marina to others.

First time for dinner was delish, rack of lamb was excellent and had great presentation. Second time had brunch, it was no better than bar food. Gave it a third try for a final opinion and the Wahoo was tasty, therefore I gave it a fourth......Fourth and final.....terrible, Sushi was like it was rolled last night, beer glass had a dirty dish water aroma, food overcooked, bland or just not tasting the way its supposed to. I can say the cocktails are creative and potent. Adrea our waitress 3 outta the 4 times there.....fabulous!!!! Sorry, we will miss you!
