YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

I have visited the facility several times as I have the others in the area. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and the care given the animals. I have seen more animals walk out that door and papers signed for others to go to a new home than at any other place. They do "not" stop caring when that animal walks out that door. You are told there is a door open if need be. They want you to want your new family member because that is what they are! I have adopted several dogs from them, some very abused, and have received so much love returned from these throwaways. Their previous owners have now idea on the love and devotion they miss out on. When I have more room I will definitely come for more love from one of their patiently waiting animals. J Ambuehl

We adopted a six yr old siamese female about 4 yrs ago. She is the sweetest cat, she is so even tempered even around my grandson. I couldn't believe someone gave up such a beautiful cat. She has brought so much love into our home. Her name is Celine and I just love how she talks to us.

they are not considered a no kills shelter BUT I clarified this with a worker. They ABSOLUTELY AND ONLY put down an animal if there is no way for them to get the animal better. They do treat the animals and try to bring them back to health. They do NOT put down animals because there is not room. So its ok to bring your pets there to be adopted.

The Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania, established in 1909, is engaged in various activities that include providing temporary shelter, food, and medical attention to neglected and injured animals, restoring lost animals to their owners and seeking new homes for them, fostering a caring attitude towards animals and providing a merciful end for terminally- ill pets. Open seven days a week, the ARL operates a clinic in Pittsburg and an animal-shelter in nearby Rosedale. The clinic, staffed by licensed veterinarians and animal care specialists and augmented by animal-handling volunteers, offers services for pets such as general surgery and spay-neutering at a low cost. Support for the ARL comes from membership, gifts and memorials.

Wanted to attend teacup meetup with my dog. Since in two different occasions I drove my 25 miles to attend published meetup and to find it was cancelled. I called ahead three times...no answer...left three messeges...no answer. Did eventually 1/2 hour before it started...receptionist said it was on calender and she was not certain...redirected my call...voice mail only..tried to call again...could not get thru! I give up...they seem really bor to care...hour later..no call... Never going to attend. Their loss of my money.

We went to the shelter in search of a family dog. We went on a Sunday because we were not sure about getting a pet. When we went back a week later we recieved a wonderful greeting from the staff and they were very helpful. They listened to our concerns about having a dog and recommend 2 that would suit our needs. The dog that they recommended where both older and were exactly what the staff stated that they were. We got to spend time with each dog and got to walk them and see their interaction with our child. We choose a black lab named Cody. What a wonderful pet! He is wonderful with our child and very protective of our family. I would like to thank the knowlegable staff for pinpointing our needs and making and excellent selection in the type of dog that suits our family. We love Cody and he has become an important part of our family and we would use this facility again.

Olga W. needs to understand that anyone who works with pet/animal rescue sometimes needs to "fracture" a law occasionally to save a life. If Olga loves her animals as much as she claims to, why aren't they micro-chipped & more importantly, why were they running loose where they could be hurt or killed or worse yet, picked up by someone who tortures animals??? I don't know anyone affiliated with Ms Gapen or the Waynesburg Humane Society. That said, I have done several rescues myself & I have learned, the hard way, that a person can claim to be a pet owner or animal lover & that doesn't make it so. Olga, you should be happy & thankful that your two dogs were found, safe & kept that way until you could claim them. Don't be so negative about having to pay $100 to get them back. I have five dogs & God forbid that they ever end up away from me but if they did, $500 is the least of what I would pay to get them back. One surgery costs way more than that!
