Joe's Auto Repair
Let's just start off by saying if I could give 0 stars I would. I'm a 22 year old women and this is my first vehicle so it's safe to say I don't know much about vehicles. I brought my car in with a coolant leak and was informed I needed a new radiator. The man gave me a reasonable price and I said yes. I thought I found a good mechanic who I could trust, sadly I was mistaken. I spoke to my grandpa who asked me to check to make sure he was also replacing the theromstat, so I called Joe's and he told me no he wasn't. My grandpa told him he needs to do what any GOOD mechanic would do and replace it. Joe still didn't replace it even after we asked him to. Joe told me the car would be done that night but probably tomorrow morning. I go to a show 45 minutes away and get called at 7pm and told I need to come get my car in an hour or he would leave it on the street in a not so great neiborhood. Luckily my aunt was able to get it and asks him if he replaced the hoses, again he says no but informs her that I need to replace them and the radiator cap soon. My aunt asks why he didn't tell me that and he says he only does what needs to be fixed "now". He is a horrible machanic, I called and asked 4 other machanic their advise and they all said he was terrible and that you should replace all of that when replacing a radiator, which I gladly would have paid for to avoid a problem later on. Also, to top it all off tried to scam me out of $10. Said the inspection would be $15 and labor would be $75 which would be $90 but tried to charge me $100. If you like mechanics who rip you off this is the place to go. Thanks Joe's we will not come again!!

Performance Automotive #1
This shop is second to none and I can see why they were voted the best mechanic shop in Bakersfield. While traveling through Bakersfield with my family, we developed car trouble. I needed to be to work the following day and I was in a real bind. I was considering renting a car but the auto rental companies were either closed or did not have any rentals on this Saturday afternoon. After discussing my situation with the guys at Performance Automotive #1, they offered to work late to help get us home. They worked until 9:00pm and got us back on the road. They worked 6 hours after their closing time to get us back on the road due to their closing time being 3:00 pm on Saturdays. Their communication was great and they kept me updated on the progress of the work on my vehicle. I can not say enough good things about these guys!

Performance Automotive #1
I was told by the Chevrolet dealer that I needed a new engine at a cost of over $6,000.00!I got a quote from Performance Automotive that was considerably less. After taking my vehicle to Performance Automotive I was told that all I needed was a starter! Wow, the dealer failed to diagnose my vehicle correctly and charged me over $100.00I highly recommend Performance Automotive. They are honest and they have much lower prices than the dealer.

Lupes Auto Express & Repair
Lupe has been my mechanic since 1999. My close friends and family members have used Lupe's Auto Express for their vehicles and all have thanked me for referring them to Lupe, whom they described as Honest and reliable. I have tried other small and big chain mechanic shops just to compare and have been either overcharged or lied to in regard to work "that was needed."

Jesse Mobile Auto Repair
Came to Jesse on the 4th of July. And he checked my car told me what it was. And we agreed that if I bought the part and brought it to him he would install. Unfortunately it wouldn't have warranty. But that was a risk i was willing to take. I paid my diagnostic fee. I came back 2 days later part in hand. He installed no questions asked. And my diagnostic fee went toward my repair bill. Just like he said. My kind of guy, with a hand shake and his word I was back on the road!!

Jiffy Lube
When I arrived to the jiffy lube I was skeptical on the service. I've heard from a few people they weren't the greatest. But when I walked in and talked to Rafael he was very welcoming and happy to help with every question I had. I am very happy with the service not only from Rafael but the rest of his staff. I will continue to take my vehicle to jiffy lube.

Jesse Mobile Auto Repair
2nd time here. Jesse gave me a fair price to replace my brakes and rotors. Car runs smoothly now. He is honest, efficient, and effective. Jesse is my go-to mechanic that I can trust and count on. Definitely recommend bringing your vehicle here.
Tips & Advices
You should change your oil filter whenever you change your oil, that is, approximately every 7,500 miles.
A oil filter is a device that helps remove contaminants from motor oil as it passes through the engine. A pump pushed the oil through the filter where it is strained and goes back to the engine.
High-mileage oil contains special conditioners that are said to help prevent gaskets from drying out and thus preventing leaks. This can be beneficial to engines with many miles on them.
Synthetic oil costs more than conventional oil, but the price is offset by the need for less frequent oil changes due to the oil’s durability.
Tools needed to change your own oil include jack stands or ramps, a wrench, an oil filter wrench, an oil drip pan, funnel, replacement oil filter, and replacement oil.
