Sillect Care Animal Hospital
My name is Babushka and Doctor Zac has been my doctor for the last 96 years. I’m over 103 years old now (that’s over 14 human years), and Doc Zac has ALWAYS been there for me. He is kind, gentle, and very caring, very empathetic. The staff is top notch also and has always gone above and beyond in making me comfortable wether it’s a short visit or an overnight stay.Doc Zac has always been able to see me in a hurry if I really needed to, in fact my human tells me I get better health care from my doctor than he does from his doctor. And if my human does not understand something Doc Zac will explain it to him until he does.He also has this really neat table that I can ride. It goes to the floor so I can get onto it and it lifts to a comfortable height where I can talk directly to the doc with out looking up all the time. When we’re done it takes me back to the floor. It also guesses my weight but as a girl I am never as heavy as it says I am (as to this whole weight to height thing I have never been overweight, I’m just not tall enough). The only thing I really don’t like about my doctor is where he sticks that thermometer. It’s probably the most accurate way of getting my temperature, but really, my human is standing right there and it’s so embarrassing (although I do have a problem holding it under my tongue).I’m getting old now, my legs are not what they used to be, my eyes are dimming, and my hearing is going dull. I have for the most part stopped chasing cats and squirrels, and sleep most of the day. Doc Zac has always been there for me, I can only hope that he will still be around in my twilight years, because, you see, he has been more than just my doctor, he has become my friend.

All Critters Animal & Bird Hospital
My 2 years old male chinchilla, Chilly Willy, required oral surgery. I was told by my previous veterinarian Bakersfield Veternarian Hospital that they could not care for his problem and that he needed to visit an exotic vet in L.A. Disappointed, I logged onto Google and searched for "exotic vet near me" in the hope of finding one locally. The first link that appeared was for All Critters Animal and Bird Pet Hospital. The morning, my husband and myself took our son (Chilly Willy ) to All Critters. During our son's free assessment, (FYI Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital charges anywhere between $87-$98 for an assessment depending on the time of day) the polite and professional veterinarian, Dr. Singh Mahl, stated that he needed his teeth filed as they were overgrown and had to have 2 teeth extracted as they later proved to be infected. After 7 hours, my son was released back into my care and is currently healing at home.I must say that I TRULY FEEL that the doctor nurtured my baby and interacted with my husband and I in a speedy and professional manner. As a walk-in, Chilly Willy was able to be seen within 15 minutes. And the veterinarian technicians were kind and attetive. I even saw one female tech sneak 2 kisses from my chin while she was holding him still <3 !! Their fees were quite inexpensive as his x-rays were MORE THAN HALF the price of Bakersfield Veterinary Hospital had quoted for my other chinchilla's head x-ray 6 months earlier! The Bottom Line: TAKE YOUR PET HERE FOR THE BEST, ALL- INCLUSIVE AND INEXPENSIVE CARE :D!!#God bless the staff at All Critters Animal and Bird Hospital!!!

Recently, I had an elderly dog with trouble walking and an eye that was ceeping pus. I also had a cat with very dirty ears. I took them both to a veterinarian hospital. I was told the dog had allergies not to worry and he was old so he probably had hip dysplasia. For the cat, I was told he had just had a little dirt in ears no infection (extremely dirty ears. After several hundreds of dollars later, I left a little confused. LUCKILY, I found Dr. Bashara! He came to my home and immediately found the problems with my animals. He was professional, caring and very knowledgeable on treating my babies. TODAY, my dogs eye is cleared up (it was an infection) and he is walking around like he is years younger. My cats ears are perfectly clean and treated now (infection). I will never use any of the previous veterinarians whom didn't treat my animals at all and shuffled us off like cattle. From now on ONLY DR. BESHARA will treat my babies. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. BESHARA FOR your personal animal doctor.** very affordable!

I recently had to make the tough decision to have my 15 year old dog put down. She was deaf and blind and taking her out of the house to have it done was something I did not want to have to do. I looked online and found called Dr. Beshara. He was able to come out the same day I called. He was very gentle and caring. Sunshine was able to be at home surrounded by people she loved when she passed on. I highly recommend Dr. Beshara to anyone that may need this service. I have other cats and dogs and will definitely use his services for their vet needs. He was affordable and you could tell he was doing it for the love he has of animals.

Critters Without Litters
I love this business. They have taken care of both of my rescue dogs and with loving care. I go there for the vaccinations because$12 is cheaper than anywhere else in town. One vet commanded over $125 for vaccination requiring an office visit charge. Come on, enough is enough, VETS! Be fair, like Critters, and don't overcharge! I took one dog in for a surgery and found out dog didn't need it. Critters does only what is necessary and not over selling anything. I donate and hope others do also.

Today we had dr. Besehara come to our house to look at our cat. She had a lump on her side. He looked at her and determined she had a cyst about the size of a walnut. He sedated her then removed it, stitched her up gave her melds and ointment on the stitches. Gave us Medes and ointment to use for the next 2 weeks. He will come back then to remove stitches. He is very knowledgable, polite and explained everything he did. We highly recommended him. Very affordable.

Amazing and very professional care. Dr.Singh Mahal performed fractured leg surgery on my 2 yrs. old lab hit by car. The surgery was done same day of the accident in the after hours. The staff is very sweet and helpful. The bill was very reasonable and more than that my dog Simba is doing wonderful without any minor complaint. When I go back for rechecks or annual shots Simba runs into the hospital without any stress.

Critters Without Litters
Took my pup in to be neutered. Everyone was professional, knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and caring. The facility was really clean (not easy with all those people and pets going in and out) Their fees for surgeries, vaccines and services were very reasonable. And unlike any other spay/neuter clinics Critters Without Litters kept my dog overnight. I highly recommend Critters Without Litters.

I'll be honest and say I have encountered rudeness from front desk staff (not all but you know what they say about one bad apple) however, Dr. Reno is AMAZING!!! My family and I have been coming to this office for decades! Dr. Reno and his late father actually care about the animal and go above and beyond to help care for your fur baby! Thank you for all you do & RIP Dr. Reno!
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
