Love Pet Hospital
We have a new foster dog from the local shelter who hasn't been feeling well. I was so relieved at how Dr. Wisbrock clued right in to the little dog's rare and very serious blood disorder. Dr. Wisbrock was really concerned and kept our little foster baby there all day several times to observe him and see how he reacted to treatment. He'd call and leave updates on his condition, which was great. I also find it particularly interesting that our shy, sick little foster dog bursts into wags when the staff and doctors deal with him. He is obviously treated very well there. I say this because this particular foster dog can be very shy and growly with people. One of the Vet techs came out and talked to me while I was waiting one time and I was shocked at how excited and happy our tiny patient was to see him! He can be so unfriendly and growly sometimes, but the people at Love Pet hospital obviously have taken the time to make him feel comfortable during his weekly day-long visits. That's a relief for me because I know he's very sick and I don't want him to be stressed by vet visits. He's getting well and they obviously care about the animals. I get very attached to animals and view them as family, so this is great! This hospital has made it easier for me to sleep at night because I know they give good care - not just science/medicine-wise, but also in the form of kindness and caring.

Tech Ridge Pet Hospital
I had no appointment with the vet but was shown into a room, & Dr Bradley came in & listened to what was wrong with my cat, whom she'd seen before. She discussed our options, explaining each one, and I feel she really cares about my cat, and the choices I face. Dr Bradley and Dr Chapin both have seen my cat through his lengthy illness, and both have been very supportive of us throughout this terrible disease. George has histoplasmosis, which is fatal, and they have been so caring and kind about the hard choices I've had to make about George. In fact, two different Banfield hospitals have taken care of George through the last 3 years, and without the Wellness Plans, I couldn't have afforded the expensive care that George has needed. In the past 2 visits, the Banfield at Tech Ridge has offered to see George at the last minute, by offering to working him. Drs Bradley and Chapin can not have been have been more caring doctors. I really think the world of the Banfield doctors and staff!

Sunbury Veterinary Clinic
I took my dog here many times for shots and other issues. After my dog was submitted to the Emergency Animal Hospital, the Doctors here at Sunbury knew exactly what was going on during her check up. Dr. Campbell helped care for my dog Hailey and as things started to go downhill she was great about explaining exactly what was happening, the options that we had, and her best recommendation as a professional. Unfortunately, that recommendation was to put down my pup. She was extremely compassionate and shed tears with me. The next day I brought Hailey in to be put to sleep. Since the minute I walked in, I could tell that everyone cared. I felt compassion from even the people I did not speak too. For it being the worst moment of my life, I felt very comfortable for myself and my dog. I can't thank them enough. When it comes time to adopt a new little pup, I can assure you, this will be where they go!

Brykerwood Veterinary Clinic
10 Star !!!! Dr. Biehle is the BEST!!!! ...We live in the country and have Coyote packs all around us .... My German Shepherd pup became very sick, quit eating and couldn't even keep water down. Dr Biehle quickly diagnosed that my dog had been poisoned ... I couldn't believe it because when he asked me if anyone "would have reason to poison the dog", I said "no way" .... he treated my boy and after 3 days of IV fluids and all the other stuff he did, my dog survived ... I later learned that the ranchers in my area were indeed putting out poisoned meat to kill the coyotes ... Dr. Biehle knew what was wrong and treated my dog accordingly ... I have no idea how to repay him for what he did for me and my buddy Shadow ... We love you, Dr. Biehle!

Tech Ridge Pet Hospital
I have been bringing my dogs since they were puppies, to Tech Ridge Hospital when it was Braker Lane Animal Clinic, they are 11 years old now, and I even live in Round Rock! They have always been wonderful with me and my 2 Maltese. Dr Watson saved one of their lives, when he was 4 or 5, with an early diagnosis of a disease that is VERY rare in Maltese. Dr Thornton is also super, and Dr Lewis just did a very complicated surgery on our third addition to our family, a rescued Maltese whose little ear canal had to be removed due to chronic, untreated infections she suffered from at a puppy mill. I find their pricing very reasonable and trust them unconditionally!

Circle C Animal Hospital
It's always so hard to find a vet you can trust when you move to a new city. I was never quite comfortable with the first vet I found and so I kept looking. I was so lucky to find Dr Greenville and all of the staff at Circle C on my second try, especially because I live so far away from their practice. I don't mind the 45 minute drive at all: it's totally worth the extra time to get there! The loving, professional care my dogs and cats receive there is beyond compare. My dogs love her so much that, even if only one needs to go in for a visit, I bring both every time! These folks are absolutely the best I have found in my many years as a pet owner.

Balcones Animal Hospital
We have been going to this clinic for 25+ years and have always felt our dogs received amazing care. Most recently, our 12 year old dachshund had benign growth in her toes. Dr Wood was able to remove all but one toe and her pad so she can keep her leg! Thank you to both of the Dr. Woods and their very caring staff!

Best Vet
This clinic took my cat with no notice in an emergency situation. They were knowledgeable, expedient and patient with my 10,000 questions, and the bill was very reasonable. The staff went above and beyond in my case, even offering to help coordinate pickup after normal business hours. Simply wonderful.
Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
