I had a great experience here at Urgent and Family Care. Let me first share what happened with me- its an long review so please bear with me. We first went to other urgent Care and we had to come here when the first one did not want to work with us but I am glad we came here and it is going to be our urgent care going forward. So here is the story: It was Saturday and my 3 year old son had started bleeding in his ears so we thought we will utilize the Urgent Care of Kids at Round Rock for a quick check up. I checked my insurance website and they were not listed there as In-network. But sometime providers are not listed even though they are in network. So I called up there to make sure my insurance was accepted. The guy on phone told me that they generally accept my insurance company but to confirm if it will work with my specific plan, he asked me to come to the facility with my ID and Insurance card and he will be able to verify it. I took my son there. The two guys at the front office were cordial and were about to check my insurance when a lady working there told us that they can't check the insurance until they put me on schedule. A schedule in urgent care! I mean we go there for urgent need but anyway the guy told me they can just enter my information and see if my Insurance will work. I was okay with it but they lady again interrupted and handed me 5 -6 pages of forms and told me that I first need to fill those out and then only she will be able to check the insurance. I requested to verify the insurance information first and told her I can fill all the forms later because they would be of no use if my insurance wouldn't work and I will have to go to other urgent care (there is couple of them nearby). But the lady wouldn't budge although the two guys were ready to work with me. At this point my patience ran out and I walked out. Then I went to "Urgent & Family Care at Avery Ranch" and they verified my information immediately and provided us the care we needed. The staff, Nurse and the Doctor were very professional and super nice. They have all the equipment and very clean rooms. We were in and out of there in 30 minutes and most importantly with peace of mind. In Short, they were my second choice due to distance from my home but after the experience I had with them, they are going to be my first choice!

I saw Dr. Hinman for a knee injury. Even though it was late in the day, he was kind and helpful to me. I was scared and in pain and I wanted to go home. Dr. Hinman was very understanding and helped me as quickly as he could, but I felt he took time to hear me out and treat me right. I hope I don't have to see a doctor again, but if I do, I want to see Dr. Hinman.

We had a very positive experience at ProMed urgent care facility on Anderson Ln and Burnet. While in the waiting room, the staff at the counter noticed my husband's hacking cough (hard not to) and asked if he was having trouble breathing. I said, yes, and they immediately moved him to a room where the very capable RN started a breathing treatment that helped him get more air.\r \r After that, he got a chest x-ray and met with Dr. Patterson who confirmed pneumonia. Dr. Patterson was easy going, kind, and professional. Sometimes it seems that doctors at urgent care facilities are a little dismissive or distant since they see so many patients and then never see them again. He gave my husband a prescription for antibiotic pills and said he also would give him an inhaler, which we realized later he did not prescribe. We thought maybe he changed his mind based on my husband's medical allergies or whatever.\r \r So today, out of the blue, Dr. Patterson called him to check on him! He said he was concerned about him and wanted to make sure he was doing okay. My husband thanks him and said he'd wished he had gotten that inhaler. The doctor apologized, said he just forgot to prescribe it, and immediately called in the prescription personally to the Walgreens by our house. I'm really impressed with the level of care and kindness we received in spite of how busy the clinic was at the time.
5.Urgent Care Plus
12701 Ranch Road 620 N
I arrived at Urgent Care Plus on a Sunday morning around 10am due to a rash and joint pain/stiffness. Upon checking in, I inquired if it would be a long wait. I was told there were only 2 people ahead of me, so it should be fairly quick. It didn't take long to be brought to the back and into an exam room. All of the staff I encountered early on were extremely helpful and friendly (the front desk clerk, the assistant who took my vital signs, and the nurse). After describing my symptoms and being checked out by the assistant and the nurse, I awaited the doctor's arrival. The wait was interminable--at least an hour and a half before she even made an appearance. Once she did, she checked me out briefly and said she'd take a sample to rule out any infection, and if that was negative, we could assume it was just a ""wirus."" (Her English skills were somewhat lacking). They told me the test would take 5-10 minutes. She left, and the assistant came in to take a sample, reiterating that it would probably be 5-10 minutes before she returned. I waited for another hour or so, and the nurse finally came back in (not the doctor, as promised) and said that the test showed that it was a virus. They gave me a prescription for an antihistamine for the rash and she said it should go away in 7-10 days. The info the nurse gave me as far as when to contact my PCP if symptoms did not dissipate conflicted with what the doctor had told me. I got the impression that the nurse was the more competent of the two, so I decided to go with her advice rather than questioning it. On our way out my mom spoke with the nurse about the wait and was told that the doctor was new and very slow. I really got the impression that she thought nothing of making us wait for such a ridiculously long time and it seemed she just ambled from one room to the next without any awareness of who had arrived first (in fact, I saw several patients who arrived after I did leave before we did).

I went in for upper respiratory issues. I had pneumonia. I have COPD and have had pneumonia a few times. I know what pneumonia feels like. I told the dr. That I had pneumonia and I would like an x-ray and antibiotics. Not that I'm trying to tell the doctor her job I just know what pneumonia feels like. They did all the pre stuff like temperature and pulse rate and all that. My oxygen saturation was at 93 to 94. The doctor came in and insisted that I take his nebulizer and steroid shot because he was very very concerned about my oxygen saturation. I told her I would like to just get an x-ray and some antibiotics. I felt like she was just upsetting this other treatment. I am guessing she gets paid on flat rate and commission. She kept insisting so much that I went ahead and did it. Then she asked me if I still want to get the X-ray and kept insisting that I need to go to the emergency room even though my saturation for oxygen was not below the 92. I said yes on the X-ray and no to the hospital. They came back in after the X-ray and said you have double pneumonia. I said yes I knew that I told you that. And then she called in the antibiotics and such. It cost me an extra $85 for the other stuff that she did. When I told him I needed a doctor's excuse the next day they dated the excuse from the night before at 8:30 when I went in when my work didn't start till the next day at 7:30 in the morning. Then they could only do it for 3 days. So the third day is not covered. It is a Friday before the 1st of January and so I get next Monday after all for the 1st of January but now I will not get paid for it because I have no doctor's excuse for that day. I will never go back to this place again and I recommend that you read all these reviews before you do. So disappointed that it's just about the money. Donald Corder

Young Doctor but crappy tiny, crowded little office. It is all about the money folks. Asks VERY personal questions and then makes you feel bad if the answer is not what he wants to hear. Competent Doctor BUT there are better...
