New Life Auto Repair
New Life Auto may not look like much from the street; so, let me inform you about it since I had been taking my 98 Tahoe here for years & now I take my 06 Hummer H2 in periodically. New Life is basically a one man shop operated by the business owner (Steve) with assistance at times from his nephew. You will receive an honest quote from Steve, a fair competitive charge or lower than most places, and Steve knows & repairs vehicles from top to bottom. I have seen him rebuild vehicles from the naked frame up with it ending up as an excellent running vehicle; Steve knows his stuff. Steve stands behind his work & customers; you will not get burned or ever regret taking your vehicle to Steve. New Life is located right at the 13th St. bridge in downtown Augusta.

Bob was not only professional but quick at getting my car fixed! He has always answered his phone on the first try and called me if any little change came up. He even called me back to say the price decreased from the original estimate! Who does that? Not any of these big chain shops I will guarantee you that. He warranties his work and is a pleasant person that still believes in customer service. He has over 45 years experience in the industry and believe me, you can tell!

I love local shops compared to big places like Goodyear. I took my car to Goodyear for an AC problem. They quoted me someting over $600. So a friend of mine referred me to Bob at BJ Motors. He checked the car out for free - and found two other problems that Goodyear didn't even find!!!!! Plus his price ended up being much cheaper than what Goodyear quoted me - for all three issues! He's a great guy and I will only take my cars to him! I have a Hyundai, Neon and a BMW.

L&J Mobile Auto Doc
This is a young mechanic who is getting his business off the ground. I've had him work on 2 of my vehicles and he is about to work on a 3rd. I am extremely picky when it comes to maintenance on my rides. This young man understands, and thankfully shares the same passion for cars.I HIGHLY recommend Lynn. He has been nothing but prompt, courteous and respectful. I would tell anyone to give him a shot and see for yourselves.

Enriques Auto Service
I came to Enriques auto service because a friend recommended. He did my car's oil changed and the service was good, fast, reliable and at a less price than the dealer's service (and no appointments needed). I also went recently to replace my car's glass side mirror ( I bought it through amazon) and he changed it free of charge! Thanks Enrique again, I will continue going to your business in the future :)

Beattie's Auto Service
I trust these people completely. My entire family has utilized their services for about 10 years. I recently had the bearings in a wheel replaced. I agreed to the estimate, but after removing the wheel, the job was not as extensive as they thought. Therefore, they completed the repair; but I was only charged about 1/2 the estimate.

Washington Rd Tire and Auto
We have been using this place since we moved to augusta in 2003 The service is always fast and the work can not be faulted. If they happen to spot something else that needs to be taken care of, they call you and explain and are actually honest about whether the work needs to be done or can be taken care of in the future.

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
