Gilco Roofing
These folks repaired our roof back in 2009, and when our roof started leaking after the recent rains, I went looking for a roofer. I called 4 roofing company's, and within a week I had heard back from 1, and that was to inform that they no longer service Polk County. So I broke out my past paper work on roof repair and roof replacement and came across Gilco Roofing and the 2009 repair. Gave them a call and they are still in business. Larry the owner said he would drop by tomorrow and inspect our roof. He arrived in the morning, looked our situation over and wrote an estimate to repair the 2 leaks in our roof. Based on the great work they did in 2009 I accepted the estimate, which I thought was very reasonable. He advised me that they were very busy and to be patient, but that they would come to repair it in a timely manner. The next morning I received a call from Larry, he was just finishing a total roof replacement in our community, and that he could have his crew stop by and repair our leaks, if it was convenient for us. To make a long story short, they and our roof done in an hour. It was a great crew and Larry was there to oversee the repairs. Thanks Larry, you and your crew did a great job. Would never hesitated to contract your company again.

Suncoast Roofing-Polk County
They responded quickly when I requested an estimate for my roof to be replaced. Johnny explained everything they were going to do and how much it would cost. We were having some issues with our gutters that they also fixed. Once they received the permit they were here the next business day. They were polite and worked in the heat to get things done. They cleaned up the area each day and when the job was complete. I highly recommend this company. We have had lots of rain storms since and no leaks!

Tips & Advices
The most common types of roofing material are:
  • Asphalt shingles
  • Metal roofing
  • Slate shingles
  • Concrete roofing
Metal roofing material and algae-resistant asphalt shingles are the appropriate roofing material for rainy climates.
Houses located in  areas which are prone to wildfires, should avoid the use of flammable roofing materials such as wood shingles.
Not only should you ask to get in contact with past clients, it is also recommended that  homeowners visit projects currently underway to see how the contractor or company actually performs during a job. You can also go online and check out other customer reviews.
Reputable roofers do offer a warranty against poor workmanship. Additionally, the material used often carries a warranty from the manufacturer against defects (assuming proper installation). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to check on the availability of all such warranties before any work is performed.
