Awful Annie's
My husband brought me here for breakfast on my birthday. I ordered the Little Mess with sausage, which was a plate piled with potatoes, chopped up breakfast links, mushy zuchini, a few mushroom slices, & grape tomatoes. Totally bland & somewhat greasy. He enjoyed his over-easy eggs, which is why I rate AA's 3 stars. At hubby's insistence, I ordered a "world-famous" bloody mary, which came loaded with spicy veggies & their "world famous" spice blend. It was chokingly hot & Worcestershire-heavy. To me, Worcestershire is what poor bartenders rely on. The very friendly and accommodating waitress offered to "replace" my drink--however, half was poured out and tomato juice added, which essentially turned the cocktail into spicy tomato juice. Better off not starting my birthday with alcohol anyway!

Maria's Mexican Tacos
I would drive right by this place for years because it looked like it is part of the bowling alley, but the first time I ever ate there, I was HOOKED!! This is the most authentic and yummy mexican food in town, they have excellent burritos, homemade tamales, and the tacos are supposed to be excellent but I simply can not deviate from my favorite burrito to try them!! Free chips and salsa and the salsa is all homemade. If you order your burrito with the hot salsa, watch out, it really is not for the faint of heart, but sooo good!! High quality, authentic, and my favorite mexican restaurant in town. I recommend this place to everyone I know.

Auburn Alehouse
I've heard from many people that this place is great and I don't know why it took so long for us to try it! AMAZING! First off the feel and ambience of old Auburn is a factor but the food and beer selection hit it out of the park. Run fast this place is that good! Great service on a New Year's Eve lunch. We started with the Ahi nachos and had the fried chicken. The menu is very diverse with more then just bar eats. Fried chicken, jambalaya, lettuce wraps, salads... its a diverse menu. All house made beers and the Fools Gold IPA seemed to be a hit. They have wine too.

Auburn Coffee Company
Amazing Kombucha selection with a self service bar and they let you sample them all! Met my girlfriend here for coffee and kombucha and blown away by the service and the selection of coffee, smoothies, bakery items, sandwiches and kombucha. They have three distinct sitting areas... the patio, the main coffee area and a little intimate lounge area with couches and upholstered furniture. Love this little coffee house nestled in the middle of Old Auburn right across the street from the historic Auburn Courthouse.

El Portal Taqueria
I love mexican food, and El Portal Taqueria is a great, informal, and inexpensive place to go for everyday Mexican. Not my absolute favorite place in town (Marias Mexican Tacos takes that prize), but very deserving of the #2 spot. They are one of the busiest lunch spots in town, bringing in all the firefighters, policemen and construction guys, always a good sign that the food is going to be great taste for a great price. Fast and reliable, good quality meat and lots of it in the chicken burritos :)

The Wiener Works
Ok.. In the last 20 years I have gone her on and off and they were really great. Not so much now and their pricing is somewhat higher. Not at all as busy anymore but that I thing is it was bought out a few years back. I remember you had to wait in line just to order and it also was double the size it is today. Still they are pretty good dogs. Frays are not as good now.

Salt N Pepper
We just tried Salt & Pepper for the first time. We had thecweekend brunch and it was wonderful--- the crispy polenta with bacon and sausages.....delicious. The eggs benedict and homemade blueberry muffins were also great. The staff was friendly and it was wonderful to sit outside on the patio. We are looking forward to trying lunch and dinner next!

Chevys Fresh Mex
They are a good standard family type place. All my family has gone there over the years and enjoyed getting their hat on their birthdays. "Happy, happy birthday!" The food is good and always hot. The bar serves good drinks and the employees are always movin! A good and safe place to eat for family and dates that won't set you back $!

Moe's Southwest Grill
This is actually a review of the Moes in Roseville. I'm only giving two stars because the staff was friendly. The food was very bland and had no flavor, the salsas tasted like they came from a can, and the service was extremely slow. We won't be back -- Chilpotle or Dos Coyotes are much better for a lower price!

Tio Pepe Mexican Restaurant
Overall, good experience. We went with a large-ish group (10 ppl). They were able to seat us and we got attentive service and good food. They have several options for vegetarians because they don't use lard in their beans, most sauces and chips.2013 - Visited again, still doing great!

Just a moment...
