I've been here for two years and I've had so many problems with this place. In two years, they've changed management three times. I've had problems with them balancing my account correctly. I've had to deal with incompetent staff.. why send over an inspector for a unit who is afraid of dogs, knowing that many people in the complex own dogs? Half a year ago, I asked for a new clicker that worked on both the walk-in gate and the side gates for the cars. Never received one. When it came about time for my lease to be up, the place was absolutely annoying about renewals. I repeatedly asked for them to stop asking me to renew my lease because I would be moving back to my home town.. and days later every time, I receive another request to renew my lease. The place is great about notifying you of overdue charges... only because they don't efficiently update their online balances for their residents. I receive charges for the water bill when it's too late to pay for it on time. I also had to move out because of a conflict with a random roommate. My rent was supposed to go down from $375 to $300. Guess what? It went up to $415 and the staff said they couldn't do anything about it. One week later, they're advertising apartment rates to be $300 with an $800 free gift card if you sign their lease, now. TL;DR This complex is inefficient and greedy for money. It looks appealing at first, but don't be fooled.
I do NOT recommend living here. I'm a current resident, and I would move out RIGHT NOW if I could. Way over-priced, and expect to add at least $25 more to rent monthly because of a hidden fee and the insurance they force you to buy. Also, the so-called "quiet hours", you can forget about. Most of the residents here are completely inconsiderate of everyone and everything. Parties are a constant thing here. Several times a week. The whole property is trashed ALL THE TIME. The wonderful and perfect management here does absolutely nothing about noisy and inconsiderate neighbors even after numerous complaints, and they don't even attempt to clean the place up. Maintenance is slow, and you don't even get a response when you submit a maintenance request. They just show up randomly, and may or may not fix your problem depending on how they're feeling that day. The employees tend to be incredibly rude, and inconsiderate when you go to the front office. The Grove is so incredibly proud to call itself a "gated community"--which is one of the amenities that you're paying way too much for--and two months in, they've yet to close the gates. There's supposed to be a night security guard, yet they ignore parties where there are fights and everything is way out of control. Visitor parking is a JOKE, and if you have any guests that aren't family on home-game weekends, they won't give them a parking pass because they're "tight on space" even when there's a good 80 parking spots empty. If you want any hot water, you better put it on the stove, and if you want any cold water, put it in the fridge. The faucets only give lukewarm. Their "full kitchen" is less than pleasing. Not nearly enough cabinet space for three people. Also, even though everyone in the apartment pays the same price, each of the bathrooms and closets are different sizes. Most of the furniture is in terrible condition from past residents, and the patch jobs on the walls look like they were done by 3 year-olds. I could go on and on for hours about why this is a terrible place to live, but I won't. Just know: YOU DO NOT WANT TO LIVE HERE.
Absolutely worst place my child has ever lived in. I have over ten years of different children living in different apartments in two cities and by far this is the worst situation we have ever experienced. The apartment is a mess, with numerous maintenance issues - including MOLD. Their office staff is rude and unfriendly, and their maintenance staff is incompetent. They repaired a toilet in the apartment that I cannot fully describe how poorly done it was. Their repair led to even more leaking within the apartment. When you go to the office to report a complaint, they write it on a post it note with a roll of their eyes. After weeks of my child and roommates trying to get issues resolved, I finally had to get involved as a parent which was the last thing I wanted to do. I called in the City of Auburn Code Enforcement Division and they found several issues that were health and safety hazards that had never been repaired. The manager - when I finally spoke with her was tolerable and assured me that the tenants would be taken seriously. They had finally made the repairs that were promised. However, as I suspected, she and her staff are now even more rude to my child and roommates. RUN don't walk away from Logan Square. I wouldn't wish this situation on my worst enemy. If I could give them a zero stars I would.
