Hair is She
My hair has been chemical-free since June 2000 and have been “Happily Nappy” ever since. Despite my love for my natural, I sometimes desired a temporary change where I could wear my hair in a “straightened” style – all the while leaving my natural texture unaltered. I went to a couple of hair “stylists” and got some very disappointing results – hair that was “straightened”, but look dry, dull, and lifeless. I had all but given up on the notion until a good friend of mine recommended Portia’s services. I decided to take the plunge once again and see what she was about. At the time, I was also transitioning my daughter’s hair away from Creamy Crack (I know….what in the WORLD was I thinking putting that stuff in her hair in the FIRST place). The resulting look and feel of both our hair (mine fully natural, my daughter’s “transitioning” and in-between) was PHENOMENAL. My hair type typically has a difficult time not sucking up all of the moisture in the air and “reverting”. After Portia’s skilled hands, my hair was having NONE of that. I had even gone through two “misty” days without a hitch. On the 10th day after my “silk-out”, my hair still looked so jazzy, I snapped a photo of it and texted it to family and friends. Unfortunately, I generally don’t worry much about umbrellas since I just let my natural hair do what it does. This umbrella-neglect is the ONLY reason my style didn’t last more than 10 days - right after I snapped my picture, I got caught in a full-fledged rainstorm heading home. The health and thickness of my daughter’s transitioning hair shined through after Portia did her magic. After our first, post-Portia at-home “wash-n-twist”, my daughter’s hair was more manageable with less tangles and discomfort. My hair (thankfully) coiled right back up into its normal watch spring-sized pattern allowing me to return to my every day wash-n-twist routine – only this time with added shine, better twist memory, and WAY more movement (woohoo!). As an added benefit, the knowledge that Portia imparted to me during our visit on how to care for both my daughter’s and my hair helped me to not only explore more techniques for natural styles at home, but also helped me to fully transition my daughter’s hair to its current, healthy, 100% natural state. Fellow BeautySeeker, know this: if you are transitioning from relaxer, Portia’s techniques and training can help you become more comfortable with the natural state of your burgeoning crown of glory; if you are already a full-fledged 100% “natural” girl who feels uncomfortable with the idea of straightening your locks, Portia will remind you of the shear versatility your hair affords and help you divine your inner Hair Diva – without the weave, without the relaxer, and without disturbing your natural coils. Two snaps and a twirl, Portia! 

Uptown Hair Lounge
I honestly decided to leave a review because i know there are others experiencing issues similar to me. I came to Uptown & saw Josie off of a site called styleseat.com. i had recently been tooken advantage of by 3girls&aneedle hair/service and wasnt sure who to trust. But simply by grace & mercy, i was led to Josie & had a wonderful experience. I got a full sewn in w/ closure using true indian hair (she believes in recommending quality vendors & not just trying to get over with bad batches). Pricey...yes...but worth it due to the quality of hair ordered (2 bundles & closure $315...will review hair as well) & she died bundles & installed for $250. She also cut layers into the beautifully dyed blk with subtle burgundy highlights (1st time trying color...was nervous...but came out great). Additionally, they were friendly, enjoyed gospel music in background (which i truly appreciated but later R&b was played), was not loud/ghetto/cursing going on...just really a cool environment. This is a real & true review by a female fed with Atlanta's abundance of hair vendors & stylist out here trying to collect on our hard earned money! Im DEFINITELY returning!

Spoiled Opulence
I did my research before flying into Atlanta GA from California and I was in need of a serious stylist that knows how to transform people into stars. I actually followed Beautii J's career history on you tubes and blogs which shows a lot from the fashion world, products, entertainment, hair and now educating up and coming stylist. I really wanted a master educator a women of her master craft in my hair. Beautii listened as to what my needs where and added a few suggestion and assist me in selecting the best Indian Hair that matches my natural hair as possible. When my weave was done, I felt and look like a mega star and I must say Beautii has turned my life around because I was picked for a role that is currently view on T.V. now. The staff is so friendly and nice. The staff work is superior as well, I have not seen any client leave unhappy. The shop appearance has a European decor that relaxes your mind. Rest assurance, I am pleased and I have found my long term stylist that not only services my weaves at the shop she also hooks me up on set. Thanks Beautii J...

We arrived at a little after 7pm in a Friday night. The place was busy but not ridiculously crowded. We were seated right away. The music was nice (from Bruno Mars to Janet Jackson) The service was outstanding! Justin, our server, thought we waited too long for our ramen. It didn't seem long to us as we were busy digging in on the delicious appetizers of Japanese fried chicken (yum) and braised pork belly (omg yum). Next thing we knew, Justin came over and told us he discounted part of our meal and apologized for the wait and then the manager brought us MORE complimentary pork belly! Seriously, we didn't think the wait was long at all! The appetizers were plenty for 2 of us. We ordered the mild curry ramen (a bit on the spicy side) and the spicy Wasabi ramen with shrimp added. Both were very tasty! The curry was spicier than I expected, but the curry flavors were spot on. We will definitely come back and I will recommend this place to my friends for sure!

Ten Karats Virgin Hair
This is a beautiful salon. It is decorated very nicely. I love my stylist which I followed from another salon. My last visit however was disappointing, not because of anything my stylist did but moreso how myself and the person that was with me were treated when we arrived. I can understand that the owner would like to keep her salon nice but not allowing a paying customer to bring anyone along for an appointment is bad business. My guest, who is also a client of my stylist was turned away at the door because she was not being serviced that particular day. We drove an hour and fifteen minutes only to not feel welcomed at the salon upon arrival. This was a complete turnoff. I can understand not allowing children in the salon unless they are being serviced. I can even understand not allowing more than one person to accompany a person with an appointment, but a person that is an actual client turned away at the door.... humm. I can see why the salon is empty.

Desired Extensions Inc
If I could give 10 stars I would!!!! If you DESIRE great hair, no shedding, soft, and truly natural; DESIRED EXTENSIONS is the one shop place to go. This is not a beauty supply place where the people don't t know anything about hair, this establishment is much more better than that!!! This is a HAIR BOUTIQUE!!!!! Gina (the owner) is absolutely fabulous!!! She is professional and offers amazing products, not only hair, but the product to use to maintain your hair aswell!!! Her hair lasts well over a YEAR!!!! This is not something I heard, this is what I know as I have been using her hair for about 2 years . She and her sister (Yolando) also offer full service hair salon as well ; Yolando is a gifted and talented hair stylist!!! Also, if you are in need of fabulous full lace front wig, Gina offers that as wellll!!! Her wigs are fabulous and natural!!! DESIRED EXTENSTIONS IS THE BEST AROUND!!!!!

Sunu Hair Salon Atlanta
Sonya was nice, the shop was decent, but my problem was that they up-charged me from what Fatima quoted on the phone. And every time myself or another customer asked for the price of something they had to talk amongst themselves in a foreign language and Fatima (owner) decided on the price. I'm like how do you have to discuss the price for something!!! The prices should be set. So led me to believe they changed the prices based on the traffic flow for the day. And it was empty. I also requested to have my ends clipped & after Sonya had play time cutting in my hair Fatima came and I guess did it correctly w/a small tooth comb on natural hair! Hair 101 No No! I wish I could say I would recommended someone here but I would not. I looked at their hair books and most pics were dated & magazine tear-out pics instead of their actual work. So It wasn't a horrible experience, but I was not satisfied.

Tracyb Hair Studio
Everyone here is so sweet and welcoming. They all work in a family type of setting, where each stylist learns and has the same capabilities for various hair services. Before starting my service, Staren, my stylist, showed me around the salon, and provided me with a clean black robe. Upon returning to her booth, she inquired what I wanted my final look to be and the amount of length I would be comfortable with. After the relaxing shampoo massage, she went to work. Other friendly stylist came over and watched as she transformed my long locks into a super cute trendy short, long bobb. Although I told myself I did not need any more hair products, I could not help but get some of the amazing Orbe products that made my fine, thin hair bouncy and full without feeling crunchy and hard. FYI...It's now 11 hours later from when I had my hair done, and it still looks bouncy, soft, and full.

Prototype The Circuit Salon
Jason is the BEST...Better than any stylist I have ever had before! (& I've definitely been around :)Experienced: Jason has been doing hair for a long time...he is fun, knowledgeable, & confident.Sweet: He knows how to treat a lady...he is courteous, professional, & a total joy to be around.Talented: He knows how to cut, how to color, how to style, & how to recommend products.Urban Evolution is a beautiful, refreshing space with lively personalities (not pretentious AT ALL) and aesthetically-pleasing decor. Atlanta's salon scene is super-saturated (which made it extremely difficult to find one that I love and will go back to time and again), but UE is one in a zillion!!! I feel so lucky to have found Jason at Urban Evolution, and I will NEVER go to anyone else as long as I live!!!! #IamLoyal2Jason4evr

Hair is She
Portia, does an excellent job of not only doing my hair but educating me on how to maintain its natural & healthy state. She offers classes for you and your daughter to teach you one-on-one how to take care of and style your daughters hair and even your own hair. Did I mention she does a great job on coloring my hair. People are always complimenting me on how beautiful my color is. What I most like about getting my hair done at Hair is She is the personal service I receive, she only focuses on one client at a time. I have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes. . I am usually in and out within a hour depending on the service I am getting but no more than an hour and half. I promise you won't be disappointment with the service and professionalism you will experience at Hair is She.

Just a moment...
