I visited 656 to celebrate a friend's birthday. We ordered our food around 6:00pm. At about 7, the waitress, who had not come back to the table for an hour, came out with food for 2 of the 9 people in our party. When we asked about our food she explained that the kitchen was backed up. This is understandable, however, she should have updated us before an hour had passed. About 10 minutes later, we still hadn't received our food and the manager was called over. She asked what we oredered and apologized for the mix up. Eventually everyone got their food. I did not rate it one star because the manager remained professional ans the waitress was never disrespectful. However, I refuse to pay money for such horrible service. Despite the manager's effort to make up for it (by only charging us for our drinks), my experience was very unsatisfactory. Also, two people in my party were accused of leaving without paying for their drinks. However, we saw them pay and how xould they have paid foe thier foos and not their drink if it was all on the same ticket. Another friend ended up paying for their drinks because they were not there to prove that they paid.
I went for the first time to Grain with friends and we went roughly at 11:30pm on a Monday night and the place was small, but had plenty of open seats! This was a great bar to catch up with friends and I could also see it being a cute place to get drinks after a date too. I liked the classy and dark ambience to the bar. My friends Morgan and Katie ordered the Midtown Mule ($9). Morgan said this drink was too pungent for her but I personally liked it when I tried a sip. To me, the pineapple cancelled out an overly vodka taste! Katie said really liked it as well because the juices in it made it a little sweeter than a normal Moscow mule. For me, I ordered the Hemingway cocktail ($9). I believe this drink contained rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and a couple other of ingredients. It was too bitter for my taste so I found myself adding some lime and water to the cocktail. I would not get this drink again. The bartender was also extremely nice and I enjoyed speaking with him!
It use to be a great place for the over 40's crowd. I USE to go there at least 3 times per week- had some good times there, especially on Thursday-Ladies Night. Now it is CLUB NEALS- pants sagging, extremely loud music, impersonal bar tenders, a dj that seems to be doing commercials for the place more than playing the music too loud- a hot mess. NEAL, what were you thinking??? Change is good, but such a drastic change so suddenly may be the undoing of Neal's Place- a former neighborhood getaway gone Wanna Be CLUB- and the lady behind the bar was the cashier and yes she needed some polishing but hey, the original intent was for a neighborhood bar and grill- not a fly by night club- Hope the New Crowd hangs in at least as long as the Old Crowd did!
I visited Verde a few years ago and wasn't impressed; however, I was completely blown away during my last experience about a week ago. The service was fantastic and accommodating, especially considering our large group and multiple needs. The four dips (queso, salsa, black bean dip and guac) were amazing and possibly some of the best dips in the city. The quesadilla I had was pretty good. And, the margarita was great! I had one margarita and it was strong but not overbearing. The prices were great, and I had a fantastic time. I'm definitely going back.
Mondays and Wednesdays are more loungy and personal, but a great atmosphere and menu with great service and really really really hot bartenders! Now Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are a different story at this place! HangOvers Buckhead owns the whole buckhead block with the best looking crowd, great music, cheap drinks, sexiest staff I have ever seen, and the staff is always so nice. Everything about this place is perfect and wouldn't change a thing. Great job guys!
