Writing this review from an owner's perspective who used this company to manage my property for several years. When I first started with the company, Hank was in charge. I have had issues ever since the new manager took over. I had to have several conversations over many months to find out why I was getting charged every single month for landscaping when there should be no need to mow my property in the winter months. I then had to explain how the bill should clearly state what is being done for the $100 each month; I wanted a more detailed accounting for how my money was being spent. Then during turn of the property for a new tenant they spent $600 to 'paint' without first getting my approval. It clearly stated in the contract that they need owner approval to spend more than $300. The excuse was that they didn't have enough staff to make phone calls because they were too busy during that time to let the owner know beforehand. In addition, I was charged for 'cleaning', removing items from the ceiling and filling holes which should have been the onus of the tenant to do prior to leaving the property. This all came to a head when the AC went out last month. This company does not know how to deal with a home warranty. I was informed on a Saturday that the AC was out so I contacted the home warranty company then let Joiner know that the AC repair company would contact them to schedule an appointment. I asked for a call back on Monday and I was told no one was in the office on the weekends and no one would be back in the office until Wednesday because of the July 4th holiday. I told them I hoped the tenant was alright with waiting that long but that was unacceptable. I was then told later by the tenant that they threw me under the bus by stating I was the reason they had to wait until Wednesday. Poor communication from the management company not to mention unprofessional to put the blame on the owner. If I was to coordinate with the tenant, I should have had the tenants contact information and then why would I need to pay Joiner?! Due to the additional time without AC I had to offer concessions to the tenant which meant that I wouldn't have enough money to cover my mortgage again. Then, Joiner tells me he is terminating managing the property, because this is 'outside the way they normally operate'. Because they can't handle the responsibility of dealing with emergency maintenance issues, he quits. Well, I say good riddance. The tenant is also happy to not have to deal with them any more.
My wife and I have been with Joiner and Associates since 2013, and each time we had an issue maintenance wise, all I had to do was to contact Joiner and within one to two days the issue was taken care of. Hank Joiner and the Joiner family have always been professional in every manner of the way they handle their business responsibilities. I would highly recommend the Joiner family to anyone looking for a place to call home.
I love the convenience of paying rent online. Quick responses to my emails and service requests. The Joiner staff is extremely warm and friendly. I'm always treated like a friend and neighbor, not just a client. I've rented several places in town, and without a doubt they are the best realty company in Athens.(Do not confuse with Joiner Management. These great folks are on Prince Ave.)
Great and friendly service. Very accommodating and very pleasant to rent from. Excellent management and very easy going which made me feel comfortable and as if I were working with a friend rather than a businessman. I was very pleased with how responsive the management team was and I was able to resolve any issue I had in a timely manner
