As long as you bring a quarter and reusable bags, this is a great place to shop!!!! The prices are usually way lower than other grocery stores, and sometimes even beats the sale + coupon prices of other places. The cashiers are a lot nicer than normal grocery stores, too. They only carry in-season produce, though, and while that makes the prices super low, you can't be sure to get exactly what you need (especially if it's not in season).

Earth Fare
Earth Fare in Athen's Five Points area is the city's version of a mini Whole Foods. It's much smaller than a typical WF but offers similar variety of organic and natural meats, dairy, breads, supplements, personal care items, and more. There's even a dine in area to eat selections from the deli and hot food area. It's also one if the only places in Athens to have quality fresh seafood. That being said, Earth Fare is "whole paycheck" expensive. With Publix, Krogers, and Trader Joe's offering up organics and healthy food brands, Earth Fare is the place I go to if I can find a food or product somewhere else. Also sign up for their online coupons, which make some foods a very reasonable purchase

Trader Joe's
Part of the reason we were thrilled to move to Athens was the fact that Trader Joe's was here - and they do not disappoint! While the selection is limited compared to a grocery store, their prices for organics, cheese, seltzer water, natural cleaning products, wine and beer are terrific. They also have a good selection of gluten free items like Udi's breads, their own brand of snickerdoodle cookies, and brown rice noodles. My kids love the Trader Joe's brand cereal bars, too - especially the fig ones. With a very friendly and helpful staff, it's a one stop shop for all your gourmet and natural food needs.
