Went there for a girls night out last weekend and had a great time and delicious dinner. Many got the fish tacos, I got the tuna special, another got a bison burger and not one issue, it was yummy! The live music later in the evening was acoustic and added to the nice atmosphere. Seems to have a bit of everything and the staff was very nice. Look forward to another evening back!

From cheeseburger, cheeseburger to wild Alaskan salmon on a Greek salad, you can't go wrong at lunchtime with the Med's specials or plate lunches. Great value, basic good food. But the best is breakfast. Excellent eggs, the best hashbrowns, really large perfect biscuits, along with the prerequisite breakfast meats make for fun mornings with regulars stopping by to visit each other's tables. There's often some insider drama going on, adding to the ambiance of this local establishment frequented by a loyal clientele.

We went there for a birthday celebration. We were sat promptly, greeted quickly but then forgotten about soon thereafter. Once we finally placed our drink order, the server took an incredibly long time with everything else. Our food order took a LONG time.\r Once we finally get our apps, which were great, the food comes and much to my chagrin (and most of my party) all the food was incredibly bland. The venison was just down right boring. The balsamic reduction did not in anyway accent the tasteless meet, not did the fennel. The pork with sausage plate was also very bland. Two dishes were the saving grace of the night: the beef tenderloin medallions (good but not great) and the lamb shank, which I didn't try but the 1 person who got it was pleased.\r \r Long story short, the menu sounds and looks great. The service stinks, the food is totally boring (we had better food at Scully's 1 hour later) and the quality does not meet the price point. I am truly unhappy about having dropped $160 on food that was worse than the bar food I got 3 blocks away. Save your money. Go to Savoy, Scully's or the Jerusalem Garden Cafe.

My family and I (6 adults, one child) went here at 8:00 PM on a sunday, so the buffet was closed. However, it meant that we were there for the sunset over the Pisgah National Forest, which was stunningly beautiful!!! The food was good, but not what you remember. The server was a hoot -- very chummy and witty, and right on top of our orders. Overall, we had a great time, and I would recommend it heartily to anyone visiting Asheville.

My family and I went to the Admiral for dinner over the holiday weekend. Yes, it was crowded, yes, we had to wait a little while for our table (we suggest that you make a reservation, and if your table isn't ready, then chill out, and grab a drink at the ample bar). Yep, it looks like a dive, but we felt instantly welcomed and relaxed here, the hostess acknowledged us immediately and let us know that they were very busy and running a bit behind. We didn't mind the wait, after all, it was a holiday and Friday night, we expected it. It was only about 10 minutes anyway.\r \r The Admiral’s food is absolutely amazing. Delicate Foie Gras with walnuts and pound cake, light as a feather, and as good as anything you can get in Paris. The duck was yummy; the flat iron steak was cooked just right. Smoky short ribs, large juicy sea scallops. Savory collard greens, whipped sweet potatoes and some kind of wonderful risotto complemented these dishes beautifully. We passed everything around the table. Each creation was unique and delicious, cooked to perfection.\r \r They blend traditional cuisine with local fresh products and seasonal ingredients. I don't know where Chef Elliot Moss went to culinary school, but he is brilliant. Their wine list is small, but a nice selection and nothing there was over-priced whatsoever. We thought the food was extremely reasonable, and the portions quite generous. The staff was polite and efficient, the atmosphere was friendly and laid back, and we loved it. We will continue to visit each time we are fortunate enough to find ourselves in Asheville.\r

Very mediocre. Not advised for true BBQ lovers. The chopped pork was mundane, very little smoked flavor, could have been oven roasted instead of smoked or fire roasted. very ordinary, Beans were terrible, tasted like they were straight from the can. Sauce was not very good. Best thing on my plate were the Hush Puppies. They were really good. I won't be goung back

I am one of the pickest eaters in the world. This restaurant is where I am able to find the best food, service and atmosphere. Such a quaint old house, done in good taste. My favorites are the prok chops, filets, fried green tomatoes and the salad with apple vingarette dressing!! To die for!! It's work the trip, and if you need to wait, just sit one comfy front proch and rock. Enjoy the nice breeze. Best to make reservations, breakfast, lunch and dinner, especially dinner and Sunday brunch. The best for your money!!

When I get a craving for some great lip-smacking Ribs this is where I (and many others) go! This is an unassuming, very casual place with friendly staff and picnic table seating - but worth the trip and lines. I love the dry salt & pepper rub with a sweet tomato sauce on the side to dip and the brown sugar wet ribs. And don't forget the corn pudding and other sides. Yum!

This is MUCH better now than the previous review (written in their early days) indicates. It's become our default place to go when we're not specifically in the mood for something else, which is several times a month, almost weekly. We love the food and drinks, and the service is now top-notch. Yes the menu is a little bit La Paz and a little bit new, but the execution is now excellent, and they've earned our business! We too were sad to see La Paz go, but frankly their quality was off in their latter days, and I guess the new owners inherited some of those issues, but they have been correctly addressed as far as we're concerned! But don't take our word for it--go see what we mean!

I attended a private function at The Fireplace on Sunday for my husband's co-worker's son's graduation and go party. The meal was fabulous. I had just eaten a favorite, 12 Bones on Saturday. This place is no 12 Bones but the food was just as good in a different way- like apples and oranges. The BBQ ribs reminded me of my grandfather's ribs. They were tender and no extra sauce was needed. The potato salad and the coleslaw were pretty tasty as well. If I had an event to plan and wanted a surefire down home meal, I would not hesitate to give them a call. Well, whether I need catering or not, I will be sure to return for the good food, friendly service, and nice rustic ambience.

I ordered the Copper River Salad with ham, turkey, cheese, eggs, almonds and bacon. The bacon was more like ground up fat back. Also, the banana pudding dessert was taste-less and very misrepresented. I love to try new places and went in with high hopes for another choice for dining. The food was such a disappointment. My daughter got a wrap and was worried whether the chicken was fresh. Live and learn.
