Texas Best Transmission
I had my transmission rebuilt at another shop about 2 years and 60,000 miles ago and after occasional issues during hot weather, my transmission failed. The other shop said too many miles on my car, my regular mechanic advised again a used automatic. I found Texas Best Transmission online. The owner seemed very knowledgeable about some of the issues with Honda automatics and uses a shift kit to specifically address those problems. I had my car towed down on a Monday morning. He called later that day and said it needed a rebuild and would be ready Friday. I went down on Wednesday that week while I was in the area and Robert (the owner) already had my transmission torn down and the case being cleaned. He said he hadn't found anything wrong with the rebuild other than he isn't a fan of the Honda clutch packs. He calls Friday and my car is done. Turns out the other shop left plastic in the cooling lines which kept the cooler from working.Every shift is consistent and crisp now.

Gary D's Automotive & Auto Body
Great Mecahnic - good people !! Brought my 2006 avalance to Gary the check engine light had been on for months. I had brought to my previous mechanic who could not figure it out. I had it in the shop (with the previous mechanic) three different times and he finally said after doing a few things that he could figure it out - I spent over $600.00 and made no progress. Had spoken with Gary brought it in - he had it diagnosed in less than two minutes - the other guy does not have the diaagnostic stuff Gary has. Gave me an idea what we where looking at - I said fix it was done in less than 2 days and it has run great since no issues. Great mechanic - go see them if you need help !

Gary D's Automotive & Auto Body
I have been to many auto mechanics due to raising 2 kids and have always been grateful for the work these guys do. The staff is friendly, like the days when customer service was genuine and real. The quality of work is great. Never have been dissatisfied. I still take my car there for simple work as an oil change, tire repair and even major repairs and have had my daughters car done due to accidents over the years. Paint & Body are always excellent. They have even found errors due to my daughter taking her car for body repair to other places and have corrected them so the car would not have issues later. I recommend Gary D's and always have.

Midas Auto Service Experts
This Midas went under new management in 2009 and I have been taking my car to them since. They are by far the most honest shop in Arlington. I had a a/c repair done in early 2010 and the a/c worked great for over two years. I took it back to them in 2013 and they a/c compressor had went out. This was no fault of theirs but they worked with me on the repair even though it was completely out of their warranty. Worked with Brian the owner and am completely satisfied with everything they do. Take care of not only my car but all my families cars. Great, Great shop!!!

Sam and Joe's Foreign Car Repair
Great service on my 95 Mercedes E300 Deisel. I purchased the car at an estate sale. I had no service information or records. Sam and Joes checked the car over and found a few problems. All problems were fixed in record time. The price was right and I feel all of their employees are professional. I was given a tour of the facility and met the mechanic that worked on my car. I would highly recommend Sam and Joes to service your foreign car. I will be back when I need service on my E300.

Ace Automotive Services Inc
Been coming to Ace for as long as they've been in business, they have always had staff that is very knowledgeable. They have always been able to explain it to me in simple terms so I can understand the problem with my cars. Never had to bring it back more than once for the same problem. Will be a life long customer of Ace Automotive Services! And they're right under the water tower so it's really easy to find.

Independent Foreign Car Repair
They are reliable and honest. Do not repair something that doesn't need it. Have treated us very well on all the foreign cars we have taken there. Especially my 2003 Pilot. Have recommended them several times. Have told me about repairs that are under lifetime warranty and sent me to dealer. Some businesses would have done the repair without informing me of the warranty. Really appreciate their honesty.

High Tech Transmission Specialists
Took my car to High Tech after being told that I had a transmission leak. Turned out not to be the case. The team at High Tech did a great job working with me to get my car in and looked at. All of this was done with great amount of courtesy and professionalism and no charge. Fantastic! I will definitely go there again if I am told that I have transmission issues in the future.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
