I was in Montessori as a kid and loved it. I love the concept of teaching a child personal independence by doing for him/herself in age appropriate ways and I wanted the same experience for my son. Based on my first impression, I thought FVMA would have a lot to offer in this regard. From what I have seen during my son's time at the school, I truly believe that each teacher genuinely enjoys their job and are in it for all the right reasons. We have a great appreciation for everything they do for us. The environment makes me feel like my son is part of a family when he is there instead of simply being babysat while I work. One thing I especially liked was the care and attention my son was given as a young infant. It always seemed like someone was holding/tending to him when I came to pick him up (as they do not typically use swings). As he has gotten older, he still gets a great deal of personal attention. But he has also been doing very well with playing and learning independently. I have also had opportunities to see how the teachers interact with some of the older children, and plan to use some of the methods in my own home! I would definitely recommend this school and look forward to watching my son grow and thrive through this program.
