Thales Academy
The 8/5/16 review, by someone who does not appear to have firsthand experience with Thales, is full of falsehoods. It is a complete lie that "any mention of climate change or evolution among staff is forbidden." Both of these topics have been taught in my kids' classes at Thales and are absolutely not "forbidden." That reviewer also says "the administration also consistently chooses a curriculum that does not include diverse voices." Well, in my daughter's ancient literature class, they are comparing the hero's journey in ancient texts to the work of Langston Hughes, the Harlem Renaissance writer. Watch out for people out there who simply have a problem with Bob Luddy and spread misinformation to try to discredit Thales. Thales is a terrific school--the education kids get there is very strong.

Thales Academy
This is our sixth year at Thales Academy in Apex and we are extremely happy with the results. I have 2 different children with different strengths and the individual attention we've received has been fantastic. My children have responded very well to the structure and we have found that both our kids are accomplishing more academically than they did prior to enrolling here. They have made some good friends also. People get passionate about education in Wake County, we can speak for ourselves having experienced elementary, middle, and now high school there that it has exceeded our expectations and reaped excellent results for us.

St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School
My great grandson went to St. Mary Magdalene for preschool. His preschool teacher, Barbara Senn, admitted to breaking the school fever policy and children in the school were put at risk for being sick. The VP, Christa Iozzo, was unprofessional and rude. The school constantly asked for donations. The VP Christa Iozzo's husband is named Christopher Iozzo. Christopher Iozzo has posted disturbing pics on his Facebook page. His Facebook is a public page and the disturbing images can be viewed by anyone in the public. Christa Iozzo, comments on her husband's facebook page that she likes his posts. This is disturbing for the school VP to do as the images are inappropriate. Chris Iozzo has a Google site with a pic of the VP Christa Iozzo. Posts on this page have disgusting images. It is known in the school that there is a problem with bullying. The Principal, Robert Cadran, lacks any leadership. Barbara Senn does not have up to date teaching credentials. I do not recommend this school at all.

Thales Academy
We all know that Thales Academy is funded by a rightwing activist, but to what extent does that affect the curriculum? Feel free to ask administration how the curriculum is designed - especially the economics curriculum. You may be surprised to learn that Luddy uses right-wing interest group Civitas to design curriculum. I would research Civitas and see if you agree with their political positions. If so, Thales Academy may be a great choice.Additionally, the administration also consistently chooses a curriculum that does not include diverse voices. Any mention of climate change or evolution among staff is forbidden. Also, next time you talk to a teacher at Thales, ask how many preparations they teach. True to it's free-market philosophy, Thales is all about the maximum about of work for the cheapest possible price. In summary, Thales Academy ought to be up front with parents and prospective teachers about the curriculum and agenda.
