B & H Auto Repair and Towing
Dear Howard and Staff: Thank you for the auto repair a month or so ago on my 2001 Suburban. For a few weeks, I didn’t drive the Suburban and when I did it felt strange after driving the VolvoIn the interim. I have monitored the rear seal and seems like it’ s not a profuse leak; then, many say better not toFix it unless it leaks a lot due to the high labor costs and that once you repair one thing it often resultsIn something else surfacing. If this worsens, I’ll give you a call. Meanwhile, I added stop leak which rarely worksAnd keep the fluid levels high. This car has 230K on it, but runs well; thought about painting it, but not sureWhen I’ll do so just yet – repaints don’t always go well. It might be better to upgrade to a newer one, but might not need such a big car in a fewMore years – the Chevy Suburban has been a good experience since they are well built and rugged. ONE GREAT THING: THE CRUISE CONTROL STARTED WORKING AGAIN AFTER I DROVE IT AWHILE AND IT’SWORKING ALL THE TIME once again – no idea of just why, but it is nice to have cruise on any long trips.Perhaps the computer sees a performance problem and shuts it off, so it might take awhile of driving beforeThat resets itself – that’s my guess. Probably the low fuel pressure or performance issues turned off the cruise. I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. If you see Dr. Dan, tell him he’s appreciated and we wish him well, too.If he’s missing family, he’s always invited to join us, too. Nice guy that Dan!!! Sincerely, Dennis Hassler

I called the shop to see how much he would charge me to put on the part i bought for my car? He told me that he wouldn't charge me nothing to put the part on, he said it's just 4 screws that holds it on. That shocked me so I took it there and he also put my filter in that I purchased at auto zone. For nothing. And the part I wanted to replace was just dirty and he told me that he could clean it for me and I could take the part back to auto zone and get my 90 bucks back. He also told me that if for some reason the light comes back on bring it back and he would put it on for free!I can read people really well and this auto shop is honest caring, trustworthy, the owner has Morales, and is not out to make a quick buck. In just the short time I was there I saw the owner help more people on a personal note and I like this company I would recommend this auto repair shop to everyone. If you want a good (honest company) working on you vehicles bring it here.Rose Williams

I have been going to Howard since he was at Roberts and followed him to B&H Auto. He has always done an awesome job on my wonderful Suburban, which would probally be in the junk yard if it wasn't for him keeping it running! I also take my son and husbands vehicles there too because I know I can trust him to do a great job and will do his best to get me in no matter how busy he is! He is very honest and reasonable and doesn't try to get more from your buck! I recommend him to everyone I know. Howard and Jackie are always wonderful to me and I appreciate all that they do. And by the way Howard, my Suburban isn't retireing any time soon! Ha! Anyways keep up the great work that you do and THANKS a million! You guys are the best!

The Path Less Traveled Automotive
I took my van into Mike's shop. This Guy is The REAL Deal. I have never been so throughly educated on what was going on with my vehicle. He is the most patient and honorable dude I've ever had the pleasure of taking my car two. I love the fact that he tells me what is an immediate need and what I can expect down the road. Its hard to afford to fix and maintain everything at once. I was referred to Mike by my dad who use to be a mechanic and finds fault in everyone except Mike. I've been going to see Mike for 7 years now. Go see him, you will not be disappointed.

A few months ago I took my 1990 GMC Van to B&H, they had it repaired very quickly and totally at a low price. Now months later another problem developed, they came to my home picked it up and have it going thru all the checks now to determine what is causing the problem. I'm a paraplegic and they totally accommodated me, picking up the vehicle and will be returning it when the problem is fixed. You don't find better persons that this, I'm sure everything will be repaired at a low cost to me. Recommend these people for all repairs, they are great.

I definitely will pay Howard a visit for any future needs. He is aces in our book.I was out to eat with my family and when I went to pay the bill, I was told it was payed for already. Howard didnt even know us, but took care of our dinner without even hesitating or expecting a thank you. No one had ever done that for us before. We asked to meet him to say thank you, and luckily we got to before we left. No kind deed should go unrewarded, so we wanted to commend him for his kindness. Thanks again. Sandy and Joe

WOW, these folks are real honest down to earth hard working ethical and have integrity! You just don't find people like this anymore, let alone in the auto repair business. They treated me with respect and the price, well lets just say they were MORE than fair. If you're going to buy a used car, take it to them first to check it out. If you buy a used car, like I did, and don't get it checked out, take it to them to get it fixed. By far the best service I've ever been given!

My engine stopped. First shop I took it to said I needed a new engine, an expensive repair since my Jeep carries a Mercedes engine. Howard offered to take a look at it, without charge, then, after taking a good look at it, told me he thought he could fix it. He did, and for far less than a new (rebuilt) engine would have cost me. He is very careful about keeping the customer's costs down without sacrificing quality and thoroughness. Very satisfied.

I wouldn't take my vehicles to anyone else. Howard is always honest and does great work. He's saved us lots of money on several occasions. I will have my car towed (also by B&H!) from all the way across Phoenix just to get it to B & H because I'll still save money after paying for towing! Thanks Howard for always doing such great work, always working with me and always saving me money! We won't take our vehicles to anyone else!

These guys are a blast from the past! It's like an old school mechanic shop with all the high tech devices. Even if the shop if full, don't hesitate to go inside and check with them to see when they can work on your car. They have a small army of mechanics working there to keep up with the amount of customers who trust their work and unbeatable prices.
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
