The University Inn Ann Arbor
Having business relating to the University in Ann Arbor, my 1st visit, I made a random pick based on location and price and came up trumps with the Lucky Lamp. In style it was a typical retro motel you might see in the movies, I expected Richard Gere to walk out of one of the rooms at any moment! Non retro was the renovation to a high class finish and my room was clean, warm, and cozy with crispy bed linen which always makes you feel good after a difficult day. Being from Ireland we think we have the market on hospitality cornered, but you won't find friendlier than the ladies working on the front desk. I hope when they see this they will forgive me forgetting their names but they directed me to nearby excellent restaurants, shopping, bus transport across the road and more than that made someone a long way from home feel at home. Yeah, I recommend it!

First this is no longer called the "Lamp Post Inn" but the "University inn." Desk check In was courteous and helpful. Room is a little small yet, clean with many amenities including microwave, fridge. Bathroom was small yet clean, in good repair, and doable. Owner allowed to park car on grounds due to an afternoon game on Saturday. as my checkout was Saturday at 11am. The U of M stadium is about 2.5 miles away. Can walk to the stadium yet there are several "modes" of transportation available. The owner was a great help. She gave us free bottles of water as their soda pop machine was out of soda pop. Highly recommend this motel when traveling in the Ann Arbor area and need a place to stay for a night.

I travel from northern mi to WV a few times per year. It's a 12 hour drive and I usually stay overnight each way. I just happened to stumble on to this place about 3 years ago. It's an old place but very well maintained, clean and everything works including the wifi. There's a small shopping center next door with a Trader Joes so I can get some deli food and a bottle of wine and not have to get back in the car after an 8 hour drive. The folks at the desk are always very nice and there's a simple breakfast set up in the am. The price is about half of a holiday inn express. I get so tired of the overpriced franchise places. It's nothing fancy but I think most folks would be fine staying here.

Sheraton Ann Arbor Hotel
Our room was very quiet, bed very comfortable. This was our 4th time stay each time for one night traveling through Ann Arbor. Really only complaint I have is having to buy Starbucks coffee in lobby for $3/small cup. I couldn't even drink it as it was so bitter and strong. I really don't think it was made correctly. Other option is to use coffee maker in room that is also Starbucks. I tried it but couldn't drink that either. I really do not like to even support Starbucks for personal reasons but as a migraine sufferer, morning coffee sometimes makes headache better so willing to try anything. Just seems having coffee available in lobby would be much more customer friendly.

We tried the Lampost before the new owners over a year ago, we thought it was tired but a good value. We were just back for the Game a few weeks ago (our team won, so it was perfect week end) and the new owners have done a great job! They keep the cool tile in the bath rooms from the 1950's but every thing else is tasteful upgraded! management was very helpful also, with getting tickets and suggestions for dining. Best part is its still best deal in town! Coming back for a wedding NYs eve! Tip, call the front desk, ask for one of the upgraded rooms, you'll get the best deal.

We stayed here 4 nights in July while visiting our daughter, who was at U of M for a summer research position. The location is wonderful, very close to the college in a very nice neighborhood. We reserved a standard room but were upgraded to a room with a kitchenette for free. The room was very clean, only complaint is it felt/smelled a little damp (maybe an upstairs room would have been better, it wasn't bad enough for us to request a new room). The staff was friendly and overall we were very pleased!

We luckily stumbled on this hotel while trying to find another. We were greeted by an enthusiastic staff; our room was very clean, comfortable and included a kitchenette; (ie sink, stove, oven; microwave; fridge, coffee pot (all worked) plus cabinets overhead) and even supplied with a few pots/plates, The microwave came in handy when I reheated a breakfast bagel. We were very pleased with the facilities, staff, location; and price.

The University Inn Ann Arbor
The hotel was going through a name change and renovations. The sign was not easy to find as the new name (University Inn) was lit-up and the "Lamp Post" hand written sign was taped below the tree line. The location to campus is excellent. Upon arrival the clerk was friendly and prepared for our late check-in. In the morning breakfast was served on time

The University Inn Ann Arbor
Travelled to see a football match and stayed here 3 days. Staff very welcoming and very helpful. Rooms spacious with plenty of wardrobe space and a nice bathroom. Rooms cleaned daily. Hotel near bus routes into town etc. which was very convenient. Would not hesitate staying here again. Retail park next door with Trader Joe's, hairdressers etc.

Our stay at the Inn was very nice. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. The bathroom was outdated and only had a shower, not ideal for little ones, but worked just fine. Staff was courteous and tried to accommodate how they could. Breakfast was not anything special, but filled our bellies! We will be coming back when we visit family.
