Our experience with Clippership Motorhome Rental was excellent. They picked us up at the airport upon arrival and took us to the Hilton downtown when we returned the vehicle. The office staff and the courtesy van drivers could not have been more helpful and nice. Lee and all of the office staff went out of their way to assure that we were satisfied. The vehicle performed perfectly and our deposit was returned to our credit card within 2 weeks. This was the first time we rented a motorhome and WE would definitely return to Clippership for a future RV rental in Alaska.
We just returned our RV to Clippership after a two-week rental. It couldn't have gone smoother! The staff was friendly and helpful. The RV was great. We made our reservation several months before our arrival. No surprises when we picked up our unit. We used their shuttle service both from the airport and to a hotel at the end of our trip. We would not hesitate to book with Clippership again.
We rented a RV for week an it went off without a hitch. Alaska was beautiful. The staff was great and very helpful with all our needs. It did take some time getting checked in, it as in most traveling situations, like waiting at the airport, but the staff made our wait comfortable and enjoyable. Clippership staff picked us up from the airport and we drove to the rental place. There were quite a few people already checking in when we got there so we had to wait. All in all the experience was enjoyable and we are looking forward to next trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the state of Alaska and all the views. i would recommend this place for anyone looking to rent an RV
We rented from Clippership towards the end of summer. We had a 28 ft beautiful Leprechaun. Our trip was amazing. Not only did we get a great price for the rental but the inside was cleaned and smelled like a new car smells. Mechanically everything ran smoothly and we had zero problems on the road. My children loved it as we were able go see the North pole and Chena hotsprings. I wish we could have stayed longer. The staff was great and gave an educated walk around so we knew how to work everything. From beginning to end we had no problems and everything was perfect. I would recommend them to anyone. Just like with any travel you have to have patience, flights being delayed or someone not returning the RV on time can cause some frustration but the staff here made our trip and minimal wait time a wonderful experience.
The only positive feedback I have about clippership is about a gentleman by the name of Salem. Everyone else at the company and in the office is terrible and have no personalities. I had rented a 21 foot RV 2017 had 4K miles on it when we picked it up. Ourfirst pit stop we used the sink and noticed Water leaking out the back of the RV from the grey Water pipe. I noticed a large hole in the pipe which no rock or debree could have possibly done. I hadn't back the RV up at all so I definitely didnt hit anything. I notified clippership right away to make them aware and let them know I'd be coming back through anchorage in 2 days if they would fix it and be ready for us. I emailed pictures and again called the morning of letting them know what time we would arrive. I had the extra $21 a day insurance on the RV thinking something simple like a pvc pipe would be covered. Long story short, they weren't ready for us when we arrived and the mechanic took all of 5 minutes to fix the pipe and they charged us $100. If I had known that I would have gone to a plumbing store and got the pipe, fittings, plumbing glue and fixed it myself. The office staff was nasty and made the poor guy Salem be the mediator because they were cowards and wouldn't tell me to my face. I wish they told me I was being charged befor doing the work.
If you do chose to rent from here I highly recommend asking to speak to SALEM and deal with him. He's very professional and curtious. He's an Outstanding young man. I just hope he realizes his worth and leaves clipper ship. Don't bother talking to anyone else because they ar all duds and have no personalities or any knowledge of there polices or vehicles.
We ran into many people in our travels and all that had rented from clippership currently or in the past. Each person had nothing but negative things to say. They are a shady company and have no concern for customer service or building relationships with customers. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!
We just returned from Alaska after 16 days. I read every review from every company I could. All had good and bad. So we took a chance on Clippership. And it paid off. Every thing was just as they said. From the shuttle to and from the hotel the pick up time of the RV. No HASSLE at all. I waited to write the review to see if my deposit was returned as stated. And sure enough it was. 5 STARS all the way. Thanks for making our trip great. Jessie and Martha from Georgia say thanks.
After renting from this company for years you would think they would care about customer service or codition of the equipment but no. Broken rvs with no working slidout, seats on dinette had no springs so table came up to neck, roof leaked and when climbed up to investigate found they had stead caulk all over dirty roof so no fix, door lock broken, torn screens, now on second replacement and trying for third. They tried to give broken 30 foot instead of broken 21 foot. Sitting with rain falling on settee, owner out of town, manager unavailable. I would avoid Clippership like the plague and they probably should not be in buisness at all. If you want a third world experience, like eastern block experience, rent from these guys. If you want a working rv, do your homework and rent from someone else. These guys are so low they will go after you for a bad rating. DO NOT RENT FROM CLIPPERSHIP IF YOU WANT A NICE EXPERIENCE. Old broken down rvs abound at clippership.
I didn't order the RV, my girlfriend did. We called for a shuttle pick up and it was about 30 minutes late. No biggie. While my girlfriend was paperworking I was playing with the company dog. We ended up getting upgraded because our reserved RV was unavailable. I then had to sign some forms since I was also going to be driving.
We did the walkaround and noticed a few small things. Once again, no biggie. About a 30 minute delay. We then went to the nearest Walmart to stock up. Things like paper plates, cups, trash bags, and salt and pepper would have been nice. Maybe that's extra. I don't know.
RV ran great and our vacation was awesome because of our RV. My only gripe is the RV didn't come equipped with an inverter. We were not staying with hookups and couldn't run the generator all night for my CPAP. Also we were told we could return the RV anytime on our return date. We didn't pay enough attention to our contract that stated a 12pm return time. We had to pay an extra day, but technically we were able to return in anytime we wanted. It was fine though since we had an 11:55pm flight.
I would rent from them again.
To start, I'm a bit surprised that for the volume of business that this company does that there are only 8 reviews. On both the day we picked up and the day we dropped off, business was booming for them with RVs coming in and out. I don't doubt any of the reviews on here, positive or negative, but I'd say there definitely aren't enough total reviews for this to be a representative sampling. This company should really encourage more of their customers to write reviews. That being said, I'll share my experience (which was overall very good).
We rented at the last minute in late August and found Clippership because it was one of the only places that had an RV available. Immediately, we were pretty sure we were getting the last remaining crappy RV in all of Alaska. The booking process was pretty easy - my girlfriend handled that part. I'm pretty sure she called Clippership a dozen times to ask various questions (it was our first RV experience) and they were always pleasant in answering her questions. Ashley in particular was very helpful.
When we landed at the airport, it was about a 20 minute wait to get the free shuttle. The driver was friendly and informative. When we got to the rental lot, there was some minor confusion as they thought we weren't arriving until later in the day. We were afraid this would cause a multi-hour delay for us, but wasn't a problem - they had our RV ready for us fairly soon after arrival. We met Ashley in person, and she was very honest with us about what we needed and didn't need to add as extra packages. We never felt like we got an upsell.
The RV itself was in good shape internally and externally. It was definitely an "older" model, but everything was in working order. They gave us a quick orientation, after which we probably still looked pretty confused. So they gave us another one and made sure we felt fully comfortable before heading out. Our first trip was to the nearby Walmart to stock up on supplies, and then we drove back to the RV lot to spend the night there and get acclimated before starting our full adventure the next morning.
Throughout the trip the RV handled just fine - I think we used every system at least once (generator, fridge, stove, A/C, heater, bathroom, etc.) and it worked just fine. When filled the propane at a gas station before returning the RV. When we got back to the lot, we still needed some time to pack our things and fully vacate the vehicle, and the staff was very accommodating. Then the shuttle dropped us off at a local hotel so we could finish the remainder of our vacation.
After the vacation, it definitely took a full 10 days to get the $500 deposit back, which seems a bit long, but they state exactly that at the beginning of the rental so I can't really complain. Based on our experience, I would definitely recommend Clippership and use them again. 5 stars for a smooth process throughout and an RV that worked exactly as expected.
