Far better work than what Cal Worthington or Johnson's Tire Company has done.Doug 5/16/13We have been taking our cars to Agen's for about 5 years and could not be happier. They are honest, friendly and professional. Many times they have called to inform us that our car doesn't need something that we thought it did. We trust their judgement on our cars and have recommended them to all our friends. Everyone has been happy with them.Theresa 6/1/13I've been especially pleased with Agen's Service. All of the maintenance requirements for my vehicle must be arranged via telephone and email since the vehicle is in Anchorage and I reside in Bethel. Despite the distance and the inability to just visit the shop, response to requests for services has been outstanding. Estimates for work to be done remained solid and suggested recommendations for services were timely and apropos. Interactions with representatives have been unfailingly courteous, professional and helpful. I routinely recommend Agen's to all of my friends who maintain vehicles in Anchorage, but reside in Bethel. Keep up the great work.Lee 8/15/13I was very impressed with the mechanic Ralph who called me to verify the work I wanted done. He called me several times to update me on what he was finding with my suspension and brake problems so there were no surprises when I came to get my vehicle and pay the bill.Rod 5/29/14Agen's is one of the very few shops that offers professional, accurate and honest estimates and quality work at a fair and honest price. It is refreshing to have an automotive shop that I can trust with our company vehicles and feel confident with every aspect of their professionalism. Moore & Sons Automotive & Alignment Center
The engine on my '96 Chevy was running a little rough so I took it in to get checked out on Tuesday as soon as they opened. I was told all it needed was just a tune up and that it should be done by the end of the day and they said they would give me a call. I called them later that day and they said they hadn't gotten to it. I had finally received a phone call Friday afternoon saying that they were finally done with it, they close in two hours and they're closed on weekends. After having to take time off work to get there before they closed I had received my $1045 bill for a tune up, transmission fluid change and oil change. It took 4 days and cost me $1045 not including having to get transportation for those 4 days. I will not be going back.

Borman Auto
I took my 2002 Subaru to Bormans needed extended work on my engine after breaking a belt. They were excellent. They worked with me on payments and charged me much less than I would have paid elsewhere. They are straight forward and honest. I always feel like they are doing everything they can to ensure I receive their best service. I have recommended this shop to several friends and they have had the same experience. This shop is amazing. I will be using them for all my future auto needs.

Goodyear Auto Service Center
I have not done any business here, but I have been calling around looking for quotes to restud my tires, and the gentleman that answered my call was so polite and helpful! They don't restud there, and when I said "Ok, thank you" and was about to hang up, he offered a lot of helpful advice and was asking me about my tires to make sure it was possible. So 5 stars for excellent customer service, especially when he knew I'm not even a customer!!A breath of fresh air.

R & R Garage
Great Service!!I had some ongoing issues with my Honda's clutch and they were nice enough to fix it the 2nd time at no charge. It was due to a defective part from the vendor. Regardless it was really appreciated that they took the time and responsibility to fix a mistake that wasn't necessarily their fault. R&R garage provides honest service at a fair price. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in Anchorage.

Quality Tune Tudor
I drive all the way across town to take my car to these guys. They're friendly, reliable, trustworthy, and cost-effective, plus they're great with adding free services like brake inspection or winter checkups.I see there's a one-star review below mine but I have to guess that was an aberration, I've never had anything but great service at Quality Tune.

Alaska Automobile Techs
Actually repaired my truck a few dollars cheaper than the quote and nobody tried to sell me anything else. On that note I have to give them a good review. Be nice if my dentist was as considerate.

CPR (Owner... Bill) is just a great place to go. They will not "sugar coat" your problem and you can call them anytime there open to ask a question and they are glad to help you out.

Borman Auto
Borman's is the best auto repair in Anchorage, hands down! The folks there always take care of me & my auto needs at little cost. I absolutely recommend Borman's!
Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
