Aardvark Automotive
I didn't have the luxury of reading reviews before i needed service for my son's Suzuki Forester. I live in a small oil town where the local mechanics are backed up for weeks. When the clutch went out in his car, he had just started a new job and couldn't afford to be without transportation. I called the local mechanic and was told the estimated cost was 1500.00 and he couldn't even look at it for 2 weeks and probably 2 weeks after that to work on it. I had a friend load the car on a trailer and head to Amarillo (100 miles away) I called around to several shops while the vehicle was in transport in the hopes of finding someone comfortable enough to work on a Suzuki. I had never even heard of Aardvark automotive but the man that answered the phone (Brandon) seemed very knowledgeable on my car and was very friendly and helpful. He gave a broad estimate and said he didn't feel comfortable diagnosing without seeing the car (which i appreciate) He said he could look at the car that day and call me back with an estimate, which is exactly what he did. We picked the car up today (less than a week after they received it). The total cost was slightly less than the quote, which was LESS than my local mechanic quoted, and the car is running perfectly, according to my son. I am very pleased with the prompt, courteous, and professional service i received from Aardvark. I have 4 cars and they are all foreign. Aardvark is my new mechanic service!

I give two stars because I was a walk in and they assisted me within minutes. Thus my gratitude ends. The receptionist was having a bad phone day but truthfully, was courteous when attending to me. They took my keys and kept them until they received my money. A very short 5 Minutes later came in with the news that it was going to cost a little over $2000.00 for repairs which needed to be soon (so why not pay for the part today, $1500.00, and we'll call you when it gets in) or your brakes will go out and of course, that would be bad. Dilemma. Reluctantly (I went here because of all the positive comments I had read online) I decided since I had time to kill, to get a second opinion. That 15 minutes cost me $144.13!Down the road I received a FREE diagnosis of same repair at a competitor (oh, and I watched, they diagnosed the truck for at least 15 minutes and did I mention FREE diagnosis!) and came back with same issues and costs of repair BUT with the suggestion NOT to do it. Brakes were in great shape and should last but would lock up if pressed hard enough with out this fix. Hmmm, dilemma. In short, Aardvark lost my business and respect but, gained a very good meal somewhere from out time together.

Panhandle Eurotech Automotive
We were on a recent road trip from Minnesota and had a problem with our JEEP. We were referred to Chris at Panhandle Eurotech by a local. Chris was great! He immediately test drove our vehicle and knew what the problem was right away. It was late in the day and he was on both his computer and telephone trying to get a part for us by the next morning so we could be on our way. He was successful in locating the part we needed and making sure it would be in his shop first thing the next day. When we went back to have the repair done the next day he did not make us wait even a minute before getting the vehicle in his garage. We waited about 20 - 25 minutes and he was done. He took us out to the garage while the vehicle was still up on the hoist and showed us exactly what part he had replaced and explained to us what had happened. We were back on the road in no time. If I lived in Amarillo, I would not have my service done anywhere else. Chris was the best. I just need to find someone as good in MN. Thank you Chris and everyone else at Panhandle Eurotech!

Panhandle Eurotech Automotive
If I could rate more than 5 stars I would. We own an 02 BMW 745li, 01 VW Beetle , and had an '07 325i. While we had our 325i we had no idea about Panhandle EuroTech. ( Thank God we do now!) We have had several things done to our E65 over at Panhandle EuroTech over the year we have owned it & Our Daughters VW Beetle. Chris is the best damn Mechanic we ever had! Honest guy too! We make the stupid mistake and took our car to a non-bmw dealership (long story).. They broke a sensor and Chris told us about it, shouldnt of even been messing with it..saved us 500$! Bob is in the office there and he is super nice guy too. They beat out the price of any other BMW type shop, and seem to care about you and your car, and do a damn good job getting it fixed right the 1st time. When I can afford to take my baby in the shop it goes to EuroTech.

Clint's Garage DIESEL, Auto, & Mobile Truck Repair Service
Clint and Machelle at Clint's Garage are an amazing family! They do not just fix cars. They are in business to take care of people and their vehicles too. Not only did they hold off selling a car to anyone else so that my son and I could have a good, reliable vehicle when I was in desperate need of one, they have been there every time I needed it worked on. They've even been there for me when I was having a bad day in a Toot N Totum parking lot, unsuccessfully trying to start my car in reverse. So, on that note, they are also fun to laugh with! Clint is a great mechanic, and they are a great family. I recommend Clint's Garage to everyone I can!!

If you are looking for an extremely honest mechanic who really knows their stuff, this is the place. We had an accident an hour away from Amarillo while traveling. Robert sent a tow service at a great price, stayed late and waited for us so we could get our 1986 Toyota Landcruiser in the shop, and then took care of everything. It ended up being nothing major, and he didn't charge us. He could have really ripped us off if he wanted to. These guys are the real thing, competent, tons of integrity. Couldn't say enough good about them. Thanks!! I have referred my local Amarillo friends.

Bruce's Mobile Auto and Diesel Repair
I would highly recommend the guys at Bruces mobile repair. These guys went out of their way to help me when I messed up my emergency brake pads by towing my car with the parking brake partially engaged. the rates are very reasonable and everyone was friendly. For the person that left the poor review earlier, I would say that you will not find any business that will come and jump you off for free! These guys charge much less than a nearby competitor, and were willing to work on my car on short notice as I was just passing through. thanks guys!

I was stuck in amarillo with a major engine problem. After getting the run around by three other mechanics I found these guys. They were referred by a dealer service rep.Good guys, excellent mechanics, honest, and they do the work at the estimated price or less. I had them put in a rebuilt motor and new shocks, excellent work at a more than reasonable price. Thanks Chris.I referred two of my traveling buddies for work they needed and they to think these guys are the best in amarillo. You locals are lucky to have these guys.

Mike Biele Automotive, Inc.
After using Mike Biele Automotive, I found a very reasonably priced automotive service and repair center. The expertise was unquestionable, the repairs precise, the timeliness excellent. So I converted my retired, widowed mother to switch here. She was being upsold and taken advantage of on numerous occasions. Mike Biele has helped her through @5+ repairs and each time LITERALLY saved her from disaster. Time after time. We both are so appreciative, this review doesn't cover it. Thank you Mike Biele Auto!

Tips & Advices
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill. The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done so you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage.
Yes. Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop.
