The Big Texan
This is about an early May stay at Big Texan Motel. For the Motel:For the Desk Staff:The desk staff is bizarre. They don't say please or thank you. They stick out their paws and expect you to know what they want. (Credit card? License? Bribe?) If you say you want a room in a certain area, they might nod, but then they give you a room wherever they want.Their reservation system is: call and they say okay. No confirmation number, nothing. If you arrive and they 'lost' your reservation, you're screwed. And they're not very helpful about getting a place to stay. For the Rooms:Front section, ground floor room. I love the decor. The rooms were floor-to-ceiling clean, quiet, and dark when the lights were off. There were two queen sized beds. The fridge was approx 3CF and worked well. The shower was clean and a little small. All of the lights and fans worked in the bathroom. The heater/air conditioner worked great and quietly. When I arrived, it was 80º. The temperature dropped to 35º. The HAC kept up. The TV is huge with lots of channels. The WiFi is strong and fast. There was a huge rumbling and I thought the room would be too noisy. It was a hundred motorcyclists. After that, the room was quiet and dark.Comment:If Big Texan would get some polite, knowledgeable Texans at the front desk — and a reassuring reservation system — they would earn four or five stars.

It's a Punjabi Affair
I guess I got spoiled eating Amarillo Hut's butter chicken curry, weekly, and expected the new Indian restaurant or It's A Punjabi Affair to have the same or better butter chicken curry. I was over the moon excited to find out that another Indian restaurant was replacing the the popular Amarillo Hut restaurant, after they decided to sell the place. I walked out of my car to check out the new place, and saw that they redid the outside patio, which is an improvement and I give them kudos for that. It is much more beautiful to look at however the actual food is just plain terrible. Their butter chicken curry tastes so watered down, it is terrible. It made me almost want to spit it out and vomit.

Bubba's 33
The atmosphere is a large, very clean sports bar; light, fun and festive. It is family friendly and kids are welcome. The food is very good, like the burgers that are offered with the bacon already ground into the hamburger patty, cannot believe what a difference it makes in the taste. All the dishes my friends and I have tried have been very good. They have a wide variety of beers on tap and bottled. They also have a bar with some very good drink selections in addition to ordering your favorites. Weekends it is very busy and you could have a 20 minute wait. Parking is not bad and there are other businesses nearby that are closed in the evenings so you can park in their slots.

Pratt Plumbing
Have used Pratt Plumbing for a few jobs over the past couple of years. Most recently, we had a gas leak on the line running from the meter to the house under about 55 feet of concrete. Gary came up with a very innovative solution that fixed the leak without having to tear up all that concrete and without the expense of boring. They also found a couple of other small leaks inside the house and corrected those as well. Gary and his team saved me a lot of money and completed the job quickly and very professionally. Very pleased with the service we received. I would highly recommend Pratt Plumbing!

SOS Plumbing
I can't describe how SOS lives up the name! We had 4 plumbers come to our place, waste our time/money and not know what they were doing. It took SOS less than 10 minutes to diagnose our problem. The work was done quickly, efficiently, and with a smile. Our quoted price was right on, and they were a pleasure to deal with. Thank you SOS for coming to our rescue!

The service member was very prompt and polite. He explained what the problem was with our plumbing, gave us a reasonable repair price, and completed the repair very quickly. He also took the time to show me where the water turn off was (with the meter in the alley) and explainedwhy I needed to know that in case of a plumbing emergency! He was great!

1-800 Plumber
I have always used this business. I was having trouble with my garbage disposal and Andrew explained what was happening. I thought it would be something really major. He was so nice and professional and even talked me into an upgrade disposal.

Jones Body Shop
Jennifer and the crew at Jones Collision are great. My Vue came back to me in better condition than when I bought it. I will tell everyone I know about their excellent service and friendly people. There is no better place in town in my opinion.

Tips & Advices
If you're having hot water issues, you can examine the thermostat and adjust it accordingly. If you hear odd sounds coming from your water heater, it could be due to sediment building up. To get rid of this, make sure you clean out the heater every few months. However, if you hear a boiling noise, it could mean the heater is overheating and you should call a plumbing professional as soon as possible.
Frozen pipes are hazardous and can cause massive amounts of damage to your home. To prevent your pipes from freezing during the winter, run your faucets at a trickle and keep your house's heater at 55 degrees Fahrenheit or above to keep the water flowing.
  • Be mindful of how much water you use in your bathroom, kitchen and even outdoors when watering your lawn.
  • Make sure your toilet handle works properly and doesn't stick.
  • Replace old shower heads with more efficient low-flow options that can cut down on the gallons of water you use each morning.
  • Turning off the water while you brush your teeth
  • Only running your dishwasher or clothes washer when you have a full load.
Yes. If you're interested in buying a new home or property, it's smart to hire a contractor or a plumbing service to not only tell you if the building's foundation is sound, but also if the pipes are in good working order.
  • Don't use your toilet or kitchen sink like a trash can by stuffing hard to flush material down the drain or pouring fats and oils down the pipe.
  • Throw coffee grounds and eggshells in the garbage instead of in your sink.
  • Only use your toilet to flush human waste and toilet paper
