KC Electrical, Electrician Alvin Tx
KC Electric rewired my entire house and shop building in Alvin. I'm so glad I found this company! The job took a little over a week. They even worked on a Saturday so we could have our electricity back as quickly as possible. In fact, we only had to go completely without electricity for a couple of hours one or two days. They coordinated the job so that we would have some electricity in some parts of the house at all times, which in my opinion was pretty amazing, given they had to remove all the old service and wiring and move the meter to a different location. The whole job went more smoothly than I could have imagined. They coordinated with the city inspectors and utility company so well we had no delays. They arrived early every morning and worked steadily and professionally, and every member of their crew was polite and professional. The thing I liked most, and the reason I chose them over the other contractors who bid the job was that they listened to me, and tried to understand exactly what I wanted, and they communicated very well in explaining the progress of the job, and when there was something that could not or should not be done the way I wanted, they explained exactly why it should be done another way. They gave me, without cost, a detailed bid. The owner, Keith, wrote a very impressive letter for my insurance company, explaining what was being done and how it would improve the safety and value of my house. At the end of the job, they even did a small extra job I asked for completely free, even though I offered to pay them for it. My house is 60 years old, and there had been a lot of people over the years modifying the wiring and receptacles, and it was an unbelievable mess, but the guys from KC Electric never complained about it... they just found a way to work through every problem so that we were never inconvenienced during the job. I will definitely call them back if I ever want any modifications in the future, and I recommend them highly. All the inspections went smoothly, and even the guy from the utility company who connected the service was impressed with the work they had done at the connection site. I have dealt with many contractors over the years that I have been remodelling my old house, and I would say KC Electric is the best of the lot.

KC Electrical, Electrician Alvin Tx
I was outside working with power tools and a long extension cord when I heard a loud bang and the power went out out my house. It sounded like it came from my breaker box and I figured I had blown something inside. It's summer and it quickly got up to about 90 degrees and rising with no AC. I called KC Electrical and actually got the electrician and not an answering service which is amazing. He was friendly and told me he'd be at my house in an hour and a half. Ended up making it there in an hour despite having to finish a meeting he was in.It turned out I didn't blow my breaker box but instead a transformer somewhere close blew. The power company got the power switched back on while he was checking the breaker box. He didn't even charge me for coming out and checking it despite having to deal with some wasps that had made a home in my breaker box. This kind of friendly, honest service is very much appreciated. I have no doubt that if it had been my breaker box, he would have fixed it quickly and for a reasonable price. I'm keeping his number and will call for any future electrical work I need.I can't recommend KC Electrical enough. Thank you!

Early this morning around 5:30 a tree from my neighbor’s yard fell onto mine and also my neighbor’s house. The tree had blown all the power down my street; it destroyed my neighbor’s kitchen and also came through our roof. We instantly called 911 because of the hot wires laying everywhere, then we called the power company to try to get the hot wire picked up and fixed, then we called KC Electrical Contractors because our meter box blew up when the tree hit it. Believe it or not but within 10 minutes Keith was out there, before any of those people. He shut off the main power source so the wire wasn’t hot anymore and nothing would catch on fire, he fixed our meter box and had it inspected in about 2 hours. KC Electric is one of the most honest and friendly company I have ever come across. I will most definitely being using them in the future. I can't thank y'all enough for everything in such a scary situation. Thanks so much! Please call them if you ever need an electrician. God bless.

I would like to personally thank your company, with my most sincerest appreciation, for your services when our electricity went out. The only part of our home affected was the room that my terminal mother and the hospice nurse were staying in. When I explained this, we were immediately reassured that someone would be out to fix our problem. Your company was very prompt, sincere, and respectful to our family during this very private time in our lives. Thank you so very much for restoring the power to my mother's room so quickly and compassionately.

Tips & Advices
Keep the following tips in mind:
  • Do not operate any electrical equipment while sitting or standing in water.
  • Don't overload extension cords or surge protectors.
  • Put caps on your electrical outlets if you have small children.
  • Call an electrician if you notice your sockets or switches are warm to the touch, discolored or if they make noise.
  • Keep electrical cords away from stoves, ovens and other sources of heat.
  • Do not use an appliance that has a frayed cord.
  • Do not staple extension cords into place or cover them with carpets or furniture.
  • When using extension cords, make sure to unwrap them before plugging them in.
  • Don't overuse extension cords. Have an electrician install extra outlets if you need a power source closer to you.
  • Only use light bulbs with the correct wattage for your lamps and light fixtures.
  • Contact a licensed electrician if you frequently blow fuses, since this can be a sign of an electrical wiring problem.
  • Have an electrician look at your fuse box to ensure you have the right size fuses and circuit breakers. The wrong size fuse or breaker can be a fire hazard.
  • If you have fault circuit interrupters installed in your electrical panel, make sure you test them at least once a month by turning them on and off.
It can cost from $40-$100 an hour depending on the job. This does not include additional costs for parts or trip fees. Make sure to ask in advance what they charge for or if they will provide a free quote.
In order to become a full-fledged professional, a person must undergo an apprenticeship with master and journeyman electricians. An apprentice needs 8,000 hours of practical work before graduating to the journeyman level. If an apprentice reaches journeyman status, he or she can complete most electrical work, but cannot design it until completing more testing along with 2,000 more on-the-job hours.
Yes. While all electricians need a license, not all of them do the same types of jobs.
  • Outside: These types of electricians work outdoors on electrical lines that connect to power plants.
  • Inside: Inside experts typically focus on commercial and industrial buildings that require a lot of power.
  • Residential: Residential electricians work with low-voltage systems and wiring to install fuse boxes and light fixtures.
Watch out for contractors that greatly underbid other electricians. If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Also, always remember to get the estimate in writing before settling on a company.
