Alton Exchange Antique Mall
Very negative. Called to inquire about booth rental. The person that answered the phone (Billie sp?) was not very encouraging but rather seemed to want to discourage my interest in renting a booth. She rambled off some numbers...$140 per month, 13% of monthly sales and $5.00 monthly advertising fee. She then asked what I'd be selling. I responded a variety of things; miscellaneous. It was then she began with the discouraging words...we want people that are going to be with us for years..a long, long time...people that are liquidating don't do well and make them & their store look bad. She went on saying it would not be cost effective for that kind of vendor. At that point, I interjected my opinion that cost effectiveness should be up to the vendor to determine. She agreed a d went on to say the owner of the mall would have more information about upcoming availability of their 100 6 x 9 booths. I was not given any information about any other booth sizes. I did inquire as to why she wanted to know what I would be selling if they don't have any booths available. Her is a standard question that she asks everyone and that she knows from experience that some vendor types don't fit.

This is one of the best true antique shops within 500 miles. Today we purchased a perfect Seth Thomas Adamantine Antique Mantel Clock. The price was right and it doesn't have a single flaw. The original label is 100% intact and it's dated from 1891.I recommend this be your 1st stop when antiquing in Alton, Illinois!!!
