Comfort Dental
When I realized I had to get dentures, I panicked. I looked up various dentists, and finally decided the cheapest way to go was with Comfort Dental of Coronado. I figured they might not be as good as others, but they would be cheaper, and that is what I need now. However, to my surprise and relief, I couldn't have been more wrong. The dentist I saw listened to everything I said and then explained exactly what the procedure would be if I decided to go ahead and have it done. He seemed to know what he was talking about, and just as important, what I was talking about, so I went ahead.I had to have all my remaining teeth pulled, upper and lower, and let me say I felt like it would be as horrible as it sounded. It was not horrible at all. My dentist had the teeth out in a very short time, and absolutely painlessly. In this method, I received a set of dentures, using the cast taken of my mouth days earlier, immediately. With this method, I never had to be without any teeth! Believe me, that was good, as toothless is just not a look I wanted. My mouth healed very quickly, but needless to say, the dentures did not fit perfectly. How could they, the cast was taken while I still had teeth. They were surprisingly close, though, so I had a few appointments to get adjustments made, and I was on my way through the process of getting the exact fit.Beginning with getting a quick appointment, I found the staff to be cheerful, helpful and comforting. My dentist never acted like he didn't have time for me, and encouraged me to ask whatever and how many questions I might have at any given time. The atmosphere in the office was very pleasant, and I never waited long enough to read any of the magazines!Yes, I initially went because they are less expensive, but do not feel that I sacrificed excellent dental care to do so. I would recommend them, based on my own experience, without any hesitation. Did I mention that I am absolutely terrified of going to the dentist? At lease I always have been. Even if you are as terrified as I have always been, I believe you will be glad you chose Comfort Dental of Coronado. I'm sure glad I did.

Uptown Dental Associates
Dr. Shepherd took over Dr. Bussey's practice after he passed away. This was my first visit to Uptown Dental. Uptown Dental billed my insurance for a cleaning and a checkup even though I did not have a checkup. The hygienist said they would do the check up next time. I thought it was because they were running behind. When I called Uptown Dental I was informed their policy is to do a comprehensive check up on your second visit and bill insurance on your first visit since insurance will not pay for a comprehensive checkup after the initial visit. I said that was odd since that’s an assumption that 1) I would return and 2) my insurance has always paid for checkups in the past and as a new patient wouldn’t you want to perform a checkup on the first visit even if it’s not a comprehensive checkup. Couple of other things stood out, the front office staff behavior is condensing at best, I had to sign an estimate of future services I inquired about, and the office looks worn e.g. the hygienist chair arms looked dirty but were actually worn out. Now I have to spend more time and call my insurance company to tell them the bill from Uptown dental was incorrect.

Epoch Behavioral Healthcare
EPOCH is a company that is owned by an investment company. Therefore, don't expect anyone to really care about you. It's the money. My first visit was with Carol Schaffer. OMG! She's a nightmare! She rushed me through a 10 minute appointment. She gave me a script for pain meds and told me to go next door to their "pain clinic" because that's where they send all of their pain patients. Come to find out, it was just a ploy. Their "pain clinic" is actually to see an addictionologist who prescribes Suboxone. I'm not an addict! I can guarantee you that since EPOCH is owned by an investment company, they also have stock in the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture Suboxone! Also, watch out! If you're being prescribed psych meds, you could walk up to the door someday and EPOCH will be gone. The doors locked and shut! Then what do you do since it's taking so long to get into see a shrink. THIS COMPANY AND ALL STAFF ARE A SCAM! THEY NEED TO BE REPORTED TO ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES!

Craig T Steichen DDS Family and Cosmetic Dentistry
After moving to Albuquerque over 20 yrs ago, I had the good fortune of meeting someone who recommended Craig Steichen to me to use as my dentist. I am so very happy with him and his beautiful and friendly staff. I recently had a difficult and complicated bridge work, implant and veneers put on my upper mouth all at the same time and I have to say, WOW! Just beautiful!!! I just love my new look, makes me feel 18 again. Dr. Steichen and his staff have always treated me with the upmost respect and caring way no matter what comes up. Always with a pleasing smile and willing to get to me even on the same day even when they are busy. I can't thank them enough for their great services. I have the best dentist in Albuquerque and highly recommend them to anyone. Sincerely, Sue Donati

Rainbow Dental
Dr. Shuan, along with Dental assistance and staff, have been everything a patient could want and expect in dental services. I've been a consistent patient with them for roughly 15 years (wow, I can't believe it's been that long). I am exceptionally pleased with the services they've rendered over the years. This crew makes going to the dentist a very pleasant experience. They are extremely detailed in their work. The office is very neat and clean. And lastly, the receptionist is a real "hoot" who makes me laugh everytime I'm there. I recommend to anyone who is looking for outstanding people, providing outstanding dental care and services. 5 star all the way ! Patient, Aria C.

Roderick Garcia DMD
Dr. Garcia is THE dentist to see if you care about your teeth. He is the best dentist I have ever been to. Dr. Garcia takes pride in his work and makes sure his patients receive the highest quality of care and service. Dr. Garcia was very gentle, understanding, and compassionate about my needs and fears--I actually no longer have fear about going to the dentist! He corrected problems I had been dealing with for years and he saved me a lot of money with the preventive measures he took. Dr. Garcia is Number One! He is a dentist who truly cares about the health of his patients. He's awesome!

Dr. Jose R Reyna Jr, MD
Dr. Jose Reyna is a wonderfully caring doctor- very professional. I have a ruptured disc at L5/S1 that was not showing on my MRI- was between the pics. My original doc did not offer anything but pain meds and physical therapy. Dr. Reyna was my second opinion and trusted that the rupture was indeed there and did a laminectomy. When he opened my back he saw the rupture and went ahead with the surgery. I got great relief and recovered quickly. It is easy to get an appointment with him and he is so kind. I would highly recommend Dr. Reyna for thorough care and professionalism. Thank you, Dr. Reyna!!

Desert Heights Family Dentistry, P.C.: Virginia Zafarano DDS
I love coming to this dental office. The dental assistant, Ms. Debra, is so gentle and cares about the patients sore/sensitive teeth. Dr. Zafarano always does great work on my teeth as well. She will work around my schedule and is very respectful to her patients. All the hygienists are very knowledgeable and will prevent your teeth from hurting. I have very sensitive teeth and this office avoids discomforting the patients. I suggest choosing this dental office for all your dental needs.

Central New Mexico Community College
There are some excellent professors. They need to increase the class offering. The administrative staff are very unfriendly. They refused to show me how to register for classes and 30 minutes before closing they won't help you because they claim they are closing soon. They read newspapers and text on their phones while students wait in line to be helped. I go to the Main Campus to get help for administration because the Westside staff is so rude and unhelpful.

Hansen, Timothy
This gentleman is the reason I have been mobile since 1999. I have seen him for years and have gotten more adequate pain relief for my disc disease than I could have hoped for. Now after a hard fall I am in tremendous pain and this is the only doctor I trust to inject my back at this point. I recommend him as a patient and fellow health professional 100%. He has a delightful bedside manner and is a great distractor when youre nervous or in pain or both!
Tips & Advices
  • If a tooth decays and the nerves or pulp (soft internal tissue which helps teeth develop) become inflamed or infected
  • If a tooth is cracked or broken and nerves are exposed
This generally depends on any specific issues you wish to address with your teeth. There are toothpastes designed to whiten teeth, fight cavities, decrease sensitivity, prevent bad breath, resist gingivitis, and those specific to children (with lower fluoride content). There are also toothpastes that offer “complete” protection by combining aspects of many of the above toothpastes.
It’s recommended to get a professional cleaning at least two times per year.
  • Desensitizing toothpaste numbs the nerves in the teeth that can cause discomfort.
  • Mouth guard can protect against grinding teeth during sleep.
  • Fluoride treatment can be applied by dentists to sensitive areas to numb teeth and strengthen enamel.
  • Root canal can treat problems in a tooth’s core.
  • Surgical gum graft where a piece of gum tissue is removed from a section of the mouth to cover an exposed root.
Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but there are certain signs that can help you and your doctor determine if yours should be:
  • Wisdom teeth are pushing other teeth around, causing pain and misalignment
  • Cysts form around newly emerged wisdom teeth, causing jaw damage
  • Gums get inflamed and swollen, causing cavities and pain
  • Doctor determine from x-rays that wisdom teeth will cause problems in the near future
