Barbecue Restaurants in Albuquerque, NM
1.Powdrell's Barbeque House Mr

Seriously good BBQ at a family run restaurant. The french fries are home cut and fresh and home cooked -- as are the collard greens and corn. Never had a BBQ sauce that good anywhere else, including the South.

This is a good place to get consistently good barbeque. The menu has a wide variety of meats and side dishes. Since they're located at the foot of the tram, get a window seat if you can; the view is fantastic.

Ive heard really good things about this place, though it was only until AFTER I ate there that people said ""yeah, it was great....10 or 20 years ago."" Perhaps that coincided with the last time they washed the vinyl tablecloths....Anyhow, onto the food. The three of us all ordered similar stuff. I had the open faced sliced beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. I didnt think it was possible to have meat that was more fat than meat, but somehow at Mr. Powdrells they have accomplished this feat. (no small one I might add) However it was not only the beef that was like this, but the pork of my fellow inmates as well. Consistency, they teach, is the key, and perhaps thats what they were going for here. I expected the potatoes to be from a powder mix and I was not to be disappointed, the gravy that covered it was of the same variety, but my wife pondered at the possibilty that the cole slaw may have come out of a can, something that we had never considered the existence of. In that sense Mr. Powdrell is a pioneer. Anyhow, the burned cornbread pancakes tatsed like, well, burned cornbread pancakes. I must say that my Texas toast was the highlight of my meal, once I cleared the soggy chunks of beef fat away from it I enjoyed it thoroughly. One of the girls came out to collect trash from another table and on the back of her shirt it said ""Mr. Powdrells: it's good 'nuff"" And then in the back of my mind I pictured him; Mr. Powdrell, looking at the slop he was serving and someone (a cook maybe?) suggesting that perhaps he should use better meat or ingredients and Mr Powdrell looking over at him with a tired glance and saying ""its good 'nuff""\r In the parking lot I stuck my finger down my throat and felt much better once my meal was on the pavement. Then we got in the car and drove far away.

First time at this Quarters location and I was impressed by the excellent food and warm customer service! When I go to a restaurant I want good food along with the customer service because they go hand in hand. This location had both and I hope everyone who reads this will take my advice and visit this awesome restaurant! Thank you for providing your customers with the best food and the warmest smiles!

Don't listen to the KC BBQ snobs in the review below. They just don't get that there are different styles of BBQ and no one is the best. I went to Rudy's the other night for the first time and loved it. Ribs were fantastic, half chicken was superb, wet brisket was off the hook! Potato salad was incredible. Only complaint was coleslaw, it was hood but not as good as everything else. Can't go wrong with Rudy's! Werd!

10.Whole Hog Cafe
9880 Montgomery Blvd NE Ste 1
The food is delicious! I love their baked potatoes and fully recommend them. I always leave there with a 6 pack of their number 5 and number 1 barbecue sauces, totally worth the price, last me and my whole family for a long time. Their barbecue sauces are perfect for making ribs at home and summer barbecues. You have got to try it.
11.Pepper's Ole' Fashion BBQ
303 San Pedro Dr NE
We first ate at Pepper's a year ago while we were here dor a horse show at the fairgrounds. Pepper's is across thwew street and just looked interesting...like a real BBQ place. We weren't disappointed. We had ribs, chicken and ""12 hour"" brisket. Everything, including the sides, was GREAT. The owner really cares about his food and the satisfaction of his customers. When we returned this year (again for a horse show) we were delighted to see that Pepper's had survived. It was the first place we ate at. The food was better than we remembered. For some people, the location might be a little off-putting. Don't let appearances fool you. This is a real BBQ joint and is a delightful place to have great food.

Every time we ask someone where you can find some good fried chicken in this city people always say 'Golden Pride!"" Which seemed the same as if someone recommended KFC to me. However, after hearing about how great the breakfast burritos were supposed to be we thought we'd check it out. The Breakfast Burrito was pretty average, a little dry (I like my eggs a little juicier) and the fried chicken was pretty good...for what it was. Definitaly better than KFC It seems like Albuquerque is sorely lacking Restaurants that can make a mean burger (thicker than newspaper) and some home cooked fried chicken, too bad. I guess that means Golden Pride chicken will have to fill the urge for now.
