every time i go here, it takes 20 min to get your drinks and another 30 to get your food.\r \r i've encountered 2 waitresses that simply won't pay attention to a table of 2 when it's busy. it seems as if they think they'd get a better tip from a bigger table. \r \r if you ever do go to this denny's expect to be there for at least 2 hrs beginning to end.

Some of the best memories are made at the breakfast table. And for more than 50 years, millions of people have made those memories at IHOP.

This place is a good little hidden treasure for a sandwich. Prices are insanely good too and the selection is vast. The atmosphere is great and the outdoor patio area is super classy. The inside is small in the front, but the back dining area is larger than you would think and quaint. They love Elvis too, almost shrine-like! I have nothing but good things to say about this place other than the battle for a parking spot during the lunch hour. If you are within walking distance, you have to try it, you will be suprised at this gem stuck in the heart of a busy albany area. Almost feels like your eating in a park, yet your in downtown albany! FYI, I think it is a breakfast and lunch place only for those dinner seekers.

We went there to celebrate Christmas with our extended family from out of town. The staff they have were FANTASTIC!! We were a large party, with teenage girls and they took VERY good care of us. They even took pic's with the little girls! The food was out of this world!!! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a terrific night out!

I was in town for a wedding and read about Madison Cafe online. We arrived around 9:30 am on a Sunday and there were several parties waiting outside for a table. We went inside to see how long the wait would be and saw two empty chairs at the bar and asked how long the wait was for the bar. We were seated immediately! Not sure why no one wanted to sit at the bar but it was great because our waitress was always right in front of us and available to refill our water or give us extra napkins. Even though it is a bar, the Sunday morning atmosphere was very family friendly.\r \r I had a hard time choosing what to order because there are so many unique and delicious sounding options, like fried oatmeal and a variety of omlettes. The food was so good. We both got the Super Breakfast: 2 eggs any style, toast, juice, coffee, meat (sausage, or ham) and pancakes. I got the raspberry oatmeal pancakes and LOVED them. The toast is from homemade bread and was also really good. Even the sausage was better than average, very flavorful. Plenty of butter and syrup, which is unusual for a breakfast place, they are usually stingy with it! I wish I did not live 3 hours away so I could come back!

My husband and I have eaten over 500 steaks at this place and it's excellent. You can smell the quality from the moment you pull into the parking lot. \r \r The Barnsider has a full menu with many choices, from chicken and pasta to supreme steaks and seafood. Yet, we get the same thing almost every time. I am a Filet Mignon with berenaise fan. My husband loves a spicy cajun style sirloin with baked scallops. I admit, I'm quite finicky about how my streak is grilled. I order it medium rare and it's consitently done correctly every time. It's never dry or overdone, nor is it cold and dark red. It's so perfect I don't need to that bernaise that comes on the side. If you like it a little more pink than red, go with medium. if you aren't sure, ask your server. The waitstaff is second to none and they will know just how to order it to suit your needs.\r \r For the first time this weekend, we ventured into appetizer land. We both like seafood and most of the appetizers are just that, except of course for tomato mozzarella and soups, which are also fantastic. We reccommend the clam chowder, and usually get that, but we were celebrating tonight, so we splurged a little and went with the Seafood Sampler for Two. It turned out to be an excellent choice. He likes shrimp and scallops. I really like clams casino and crab cakes. We both got what we wanted and for less than we would have spent each getting a full appetizer of our own!\r \r The salad bar was the next step. we've learned to watch for a break in the action, which the salad bar attendent is also doing, then we make a dash for it, so does he! In the end we get first dibs on fresh items, like lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, olives, garbanzo beans, bacon and more. This salad bar is a rarety, so if you are considering another steak house in the area, think again. This is a well stocked salad bar, frequently refreshed, having homemade dressing, fresh baked breads and a huge ""cut your own peice"" cheese wedge. You really have to pace yourself because it comes with the meal and the meal portions are also plentiful, so save room!\r \r The waistaff times your meal to come out shortly after clearing away your plates from the salad bar and replenishing your drinks. It's a well oiled machine the way this place works. We have never had to wait, wondering where's dinner. This is what we mean by excellence.\r \r Try as you may, but you might need a doggie bag, because dessert is also worth it! The Barnsider has dessert specials and frequently serves this Swiss Chocolate Bread Pudding. It's to die for and if you can't finish it, it goes great with breakfast. there are many other items on the dessert menu such as an ice cream sundae, chocolate mouse cake, pies and often a hot apple crisp. Sometime there is a homemade strawberry shortcake that has hommade strawberry flavored biscuits. It's also out of this world.\r \r As you can see, I can't say enough good things about the Barnsider. We've been going for 11 years. We are picky and they still amaze us. We just sit there after the meal and say ""I love this place"". We don't even live in Albany, but find it well worth the trip. Give it try, you won't be dissappointed.\r \r Melissa and Ed Durant\r Ballston Lake, NY

This place is adorable and the staff is super friendly. The margaritas are devine and the food is a definite spicy contrast. I have never had a bad experience there and usually go a few times a year. It is my favorite mexican food restaurant. The food is much more tasty with more of a south western kick than El Mariochis, I find their food too bland, though I'm told that it's authentic mexican.

I have been going to Grandma's for years, anytime I come up to Albany I HAVE to stop by. The food is great, the service fast and very friendly. I love the fact that at every holiday they deck the restaurant out to the max without making it look tacky. And you have to try their pies they are to die for!! The atmosphere makes you feel like your coming home. A++

We were in town for a wedding and read about Bombers online. We saw the menu online and were immediately attracted to the super cheap prices. It was around 8:30pm on a Saturday. It was a comfortable size that we didn't feel lost but still open enough to avoid the girl celebrating her 21st birthday. We waited 15 minutes for a table but the bar kept us entertained and had some good drink specials. We got the mini tacos and nachos supreme as apps and the veggie burrito and beef tacos as our entrees. The apps filled us up and we ended up taking home the entire entree. Did not even take one bite of them. We were stuffed and the food was so good. Would def go again.

Let me begin by saying that my wife and I are very experienced with most of the resterants in the capital district, the good, the bad and the ugly. We eaten in some of the finest establishments in the world. We also know a lot of resterantours and are well aware of how hard it is to be a chef/owner. We both consider the River Street Cafe one of the finest places around. The menu ranges from the simple to the sublime and is always imaginative. The chef changes the offerings regularly, always relying on the freshest of ingrediants, especially the fish selections. If you see the Buffalo Calamari on the menu, it is a MUST order. Another favorite of ours is any fish selection in the brown butter sauce. Any of the sauces are wonderful. The wine list is interesting and well paired with the entrees, consisting of mostly medium priced selections. \r \r George, the chef/owner is a very outgoing, enjoyable conversationalist (when he is not ""slammed""), always offering little tidbits he has come across in his travels. Ask him about those hot pepper infused garlics! The rest of the wait staff is attentive and of a good caliber, always friendly. One of the real plusses here is this is THE place to bring guests or clientelle, because you are not rushed through like a herd of cattle. This is the place to enjoy a sunset along the Hudson while sipping an interesting new world wine and catching up with old friends while enjoying a great meal. It's called lesiurly dining folks! Very European. \r \r The fact that you enter through the kitchen, puts one right in the foray and high energy that always accompanies finer eating establishments and bistros. I could just stand and watch a master chef at his craft, flames everywhere, pushing the staff the get the food to the tables. Just one flight up the stairs is a peaceful, simply decorated, quiet dining area that just seems another world for the action below. \r \r We both consider George a good friend and excellent host.
