I came across this place while in the Albany area on business. It might not look like much from the outside, but inside is a classic old time bar area with character to spare. I got a friendly greeting from Barry the baretender and settled in with a fresh Guinness. The real surprise here, however, is the food. \r \r Plenty of surprises on the menu, from the casual pulled pork sandwich and Asian style wings, to the Carpetbagger filet mignon stuffed with fried oysters and served with awesome garlic mash and a chipotle bernaise (!). I ended up eating here every night of my stay. \r \r Open mic on Tuesdays and a great happy hour. If you're looking for a fun place with a mature and professional crowd and great food, seek this place out.

I must say I really dislike the normal Albany crowd which I would describe as a mix of ""I'm trying to act like I'm a tough guy from Brooklyn"" and ""suburban-ish thug"". Yeah. None of that at Blue 82. The atmosphere is chill and relaxed early, then picks up late for a nice hip feel. The music is a good blend of house and R&B with some rap, but nothing too intense. The drinks are a bit pricey, but you don't get $3/bottle no-name liquor if you order a drink without specifying a brand name, either. Blue 82 is a great place to go out if you're looking to have a good time without going wild and having to put up with the undesirable elements that come with a normal young Albany crowd.

We always make it a point to stop at W.T.'s or the Gingerman when visiting the Albany area. The staff and food is always great at both places. Not easy to do for 20 + years. The Gingerman stuffed mushrooms are the BEST we've had in our many travels and the wings at W.T.'s are outstanding. Great wine, beer, food and service. Both places are gems..

Visited the Recovery Room when we ""camped"" at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Albany Medical Center. The Recovery Room is a part of this complex. As part of a 44 person bus tour, we actually ""slammed"" the RR staff when we showed up five minutes before they were scheduled to close on a quiet Sunday night. The staff had to do their own recovery to accomodate our road weary group. But they did, and they did well by us too. My table opted for a selection of appetizers and many beers. When served, these selections proved both eye appealing and tasty. Our young waitress, who was obviously taxed by the demands of our whole group, provided exemplary service in a cheerful manner. Recovery Room has the requisite flat screen TVs strategically placed throughout the common bar and dining area, and the layout of the place provides a nice pub feel by way of ambience. If we were locals, this would easily be our preferred watering hole in Albany.

Had moved away for many years, was delighted to find out the Orchard was still there and the Pizza was as I had remembered it from years past! Entering the pub was like a walk back to yester year. So glad to see the old place still there. Now bring two more generations to enjoy the Orchard and the food. Staff still friendly, food still good. Old neighborhood changed but the orchard stayed they same.

The people that work there are weird! The bartenders kept staring at me and my friend the whole time before one of the bartenders took our drink order which was over priced. Plus, there was a bad smell coming from the kitchen.

Enjoy Lark Street but do not go to Lark Tavern. Not only are they overpriced, but their food was (to put it nicely) disappointing. The beer tasted odd... as if the cups had been "cleaned" in dirty water. The bathrooms were disgusting. Only one stall actually worked (and apparently it is BYOToiletpaper) The stall wall also had a light smattering of what appeared to be boogers. The clientele is a lovely misture of creepy old men and creepy older men, and the best part of this lovely gem was that as we were patronizing this establishment the owner called and had our car towed from their parking lot. When we asked for information about where we were towed he said, "I'll get that for you." He then walked into the kitchen and hid out there for the next hour without providing the information. I suppose I shouldn't be suprised at this considering what I've read about how the current owners essentially hijacked the space from the previous owner after a fire. So then I had to go to the worst neighborhood in Albany and pay $165 to get my car back from the junkyard where it was towed. The towtruck driver, who left big grease handprints on the interior of my Audi told me that Ryan, the Lark Tavern owner tows his customers all the time. I suspect he is cahoots with them. Afterall, I did spend more getting my car back than I spent on food and drinks. Perhaps Ryan should pay better attention the the cleanliness of his establishment and poor quality of his product than who he can tow.

Had a great Hollow Burger and beer with a large group. One of the servers really went out of their way to help our party of 7 settle in to a new table when we realized a band was about to start playing. Will definitely be back - a lot!

Reserved a table before Springsteen concert. Bar tenders were slow and unfriendly. Took 25 minutes to get seated and get menus. Waitress did best she could but they were very understaffed. Nearby patrons all had same experience. Took 2 hours to get out, made concert just in time.
