The restaurant is purely gaudy to the point that it's fun and entertaining to be there. Reading the ""Miss Buca"" profiles on the walls are hilarious and seeing kids cover their eyes passing the peeing fountain is always funny. The waiters always seem on top of things and are very friendly, one was even so honest as to bring out a $20 accidentally dropped on the floor. While Buca's is a chain and food may be ""processed"", by no means does this mean the food is not tasty. Having been there many times I find the food delicious, and where else can you get a meatball bigger than your fist cooked to perfection? The salads are always fresh, the pasta heavy, the garlic kicking and the tiramisu to die for, everything you would expect in an Itallian restaurant. If you order the regular size be prepared to have enough for 3-4 people to eat, or a lot to bring home. Joining their e-club gets you great offers and a free dessert on your birthday month. Their Buca To Go curbside pick up is great, my sister has three children and seems to order from Buca's constantly. I gave it five stars because it's fun, the food is good, and the meals aren't overpriced. If you want to feel like your in your ""fun but crazy"" Itallian aunt's house, this is the place to go, and you're guaranteed to like it.

Service was good, but food was BLAH and expensive! Went here cause my friend was boasted how good it was and I couldnt have been more dissapointed. I got the chicken parm for $16.95, which i though was ok until they wanted more money for a salad with your dinner. Anyway, the place had about 5 tables of 2- to 3 people in it. and half were served already. It took 45 mInutes for our food to come out of the kitchen when we didnt order appetizers. When our food did arrive all the pasta dishes had the pasta not fully cooked, not even al dente. The sauce was oily and tasted like jar sauce that had been doctored up. The chicken was dry and tasted like it had been deep fried in old fryer oil. Being an italian, it was a shock to me that the pasta was not only severely undercooked, but cheap pasta. Why would you use cheap pasta, so stupid. Do you really think people wont notice when it tastes like someone poured starch in your mouth. To make matters worse, I figured well at least I can cover the taste of the bad food with Parmesan cheese, but the waiter served it to you by sprinkling it over your food and did not leave it at the table. What a bunch of cheapos! This place cuts corners left and right to screw over thier patrons to make a buck. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Although the place is a little threadbare and can use some maintenance, the three of us had a very nice meal. The pesto dip for the tasty bread was great to start. The salad that came with the appetizer could be fixed practically any way you want. And the Bongiorno Pesce entree was excellent, served over spaghettini. Go! It's worth it!!

If you're traveled, this will not be the best Italian you've ever had, but it will be the best you've had in the Albany area. The wine list is expansive and fairly comprehensive, the food is very good, the service can be a bit slow at times but it consummately professional, the ambiance is one of the best around of any restaurant. In a larger city, this may only be a four-star, but in Albany it's a gem and a blessing. Highly recommended to anyone not on a terribly tight budget.
9.Vito's Italian Cafe
501 New Karner Rd Ste 6
My daughter took me here on Jan. 14th, 2017. We were made to feel like family by Matt, Shawn and Vito. They turned the TV to a child's channel for my 3 year old grand daughter without us even asking. They made her feel special. Vito cooked up a steak sub with green peppers, onions, cheese and home made spaghetti sauce. My daughter had a chicken parmesan sub. Both were delicious. The breads were delicious also. We each took 1/2 of them home. Great little restaurant. Highly recommend you give them a try. Thank you Vito, Shawn and Matt.

This quiet corner on lark, boast an extremely romantic and private vibe while still maintaining a good selection of foods and wines, with realistic pricing to boot.Thats it in a nut shell. \r Hers more if you are interested.\r In the five years i quietly patronized the establishment. Sometimes Elda herself sits in the far corner , like a loving mother watching over her children playing.\r Birthdays, anniversaries, Special occasions , First time dates, no matter the occasion, you'll enhance your mood at Elda's.\r The menu has every category covered, but surprisingly the seafood is the best ive ever had. The largest shrimp served reside here. and the clams and mussels are never over cooked. I recommend the ""au fruti de mare""(a bed of linguini mixed in a lobster sauce, with clams mussels shrimp and un-breaded calamari.)A Pinot Grigio goes well with this meal. Don't like wine? try the chocolate martini.\r Menu is flexible, they can make dishes not presently being served. Who needs large groups? Come here to getaway from the world and it will feel like just the two of us. Still quiet on my Birthday, even thought the other room was having a Obama Barrack fund raising. I still felt like i was dining privately. Love the window view, its a bit drafty, dress warm in winter.Parking is crammed but is expected when visiting Lark st. at night. Not trendy enough? go to Maguires across the street, and pay double price, for a loud college bar atmosphere.

We always head to Olive Garden when we have family visiting or when we are visiting family in another state. I don't particularly like their red pasta sauce, but their other items, such as the bread sticks, salad, fettucini alfredo and chicken dishes are wonderful.
