Companion Animal Hospital
Not only do my appointments never get canceled last minute, they take time out of their day to send me a reminder so I don't forget. They are extremely reliable. Thanks to their exceptional level of care that they always offer here my pets have enjoyed healthy and long lives. My pets have never been misdiagnosed and I strongly recommend them to anyone who loves their pets. They were absolutely amazing and make others in the same field look like beginners. They have a very good professional reputation. I know that I'm under the care of an expert. They explained all the risks and benefits of my treatment options. Everything was explained in detail, all my questions were answered, and I felt a lot better about choosing a treatment plan.

Companion Animal Hospital
My husband and I moved to Albany in the summer of 2011. We drove across the country with two English Bulldogs and a Maine Coon cat. Finding the right Vet was very important to us. Dr. Wisell was more than the "right" Vet. She and her staff are very passionate about the care of animals, so much so that I began volunteering for Companion Animal Hospital's Adoption Option program.Dr. Wisell is knowledgable, enthusiastic, compasionate and extremely passionate about the care of ALL animals.

Bush Animal Clinic
Bush Animal Clinic is awesome. Dr Whatley and his staff is the best .Me being able to go back in a room with my dogs means a lot to see the vet about my dog. Other vets taking my dog back then send a vet wife or employee out to talk to you . this doesn't happen at Bush Animal Clinic. They r the Best!!Mary Parker

Bush Animal Clinic
They greet both me and my animals as soon as we walk through the doors. Everyone is friendly, and takes the time to get to know me, my animals, and make them feel comfortable.

Tips & Advices
Most 24-hour clinics do not allow owners to stay with their pets overnight. However, many do have specific visiting hours or will let owners see their pets at any point during the day. In addition, owners can call most clinics at any time for an update on their pet's well being.
  • Important phone numbers, especially those of the the veterinary clinic, the animal hospital or emergency clinic, and the poison control center
  • A book detailing pet first-aid steps
  • Copy of medical records
  • Nylon leash
  • Muzzle (only use if pet is not vomiting and has no difficulty breathing)
  • Absorbent gauze
  • Nonlatex disposable gloves
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Nail clippers
  • Digital thermometer
  • Sterile saline solution
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting only at the recommendation of a veterinarian
  • Milk of magnesia (to absorb poison only at the recommendation of a veterinarian)
Find a 24-hour animal hospital that provides emergency services within your area. Keep the facility's contact information in a place that's easy to locate, such as the refrigerator, address book, or smartphone. Most veterinary clinics operate on standard business hours and are not equipped to handle emergencies.
Veterinary clinics operate on a smaller scale than animal hospitals. The latter are more likely open 24 hours and provide emergency services. The former generally operate on typical office hours and only perform wellness exams and minor surgeries. Veterinary clinics also do not generally perform laboratory tests on site.
The specifics vary depending on the type of visit. For a wellness exam, bring:
  • Medical records
  • The type or brand of food the pet eats
  • Medication (including flea, tick, and heartworm medication).
If the animal needs medical treatment, the following may be helpful depending on the situation:
  • Fresh stool sample
  • Vomit sample
  • Video of the pet engaging in abnormal behavior
  • Substance the pet may have ingested
