After PREPAYING for a car to go on vacation with, this Hertz office called me at 10:34am on a Saturday to tell me they had no more cars. If you know car rentals, you know that everywhere closes at noon. We were leaving LATER THAT DAY for vacation. We were almost there, so we kept going anyway. We walked in the door to a short line of people. The guy at the counter asked us if we were picking up and we said we were. He said, unapologetically, that the guy in front of us was getting their last car.I thought they had already given away their last car. Now they have another last car to give away?We told him we were prepaid. He said it didn't matter and told us we could go to the airport 40 minutes away.Again, no apologies or anything. Just "you can go to the airport if you want."So we went to the airport. The guys behind the Hertz counter seemed nice enough, but when we told them we were sent by the other guy, they looked at each other and said, "We already called him and told him to stop sending us people because we don't have anything else left either."Long story short, we dealt with a very nice young lady at the car rental place a few feet away that starts with an E and ends with terprise. She bent over backward to get us a car and even match the Hertz prepaid rate for an upgraded car. I can't say enough great things about her.Hertz? They should spell it Hurtz, because that's what you're going to do if you rely on this office. We're not going back. Bad company. No customer service. Rude employees.Oh, and it took a month and numerous phone calls to get my prepaid cash back. Not good at all. If I could go less than one star, I would.Avoid Hertz.
I scheduled a truck rental online on August 5, 2014. I provided my credit card and received a confirmation email that I was set for my rental. I was to pick the truck up on August 14,2014 at 9:00 am. The rental location called me at 5:30 pm on August 13th (the night before I was to pick up the truck) to tell me that a truck was not available. I was supposed to move two daughters to college at 9:00 the next morning. One to Kent and one to Bowling Green and I got less than 14 hours notice that I had no truck. We had friends lined up to help us move the items out of storage and into their apartments and appointments set for utility activation and all of a sudden now no way to get my girls where they were supposed to be. Needless to say I was out of my mind MAD!!!!!! I would not recommend this company to anyone for any reason if they were the last company on earth. I called their corporate office to see if they could find me something but got robotic little "customer service" helpers telling me they could not do anything I would have to wait until tomorrow to get help with locating a truck. After lengthy discussion of their ineptness I gave up and cancelled my reservation and told them I had better not see any charges on my card. I called UHAUL and was able to get a truck reserved. THANK GOD for UHAUL. DO NOT USE BUDGET!!!!! This is no way to treat customers. People arrange time off from work, enlist help, have schedules and appointments related to moving, and rely on the "company" to hold their end of the bargain only to receive less than 14 hours notice. It's interesting to note that the company will charge your card $50.00 if they don't get 48 hours notice. Do you think they offered any help monetary or otherwise? Heck NO!
