We were not too impressed with their food. The drink menu was disappointing, with repetitive frozen agave maragaritas. The brisket tacos tasted like straight bbq sauce. I understand it comes with it drizzled, but I didn't even taste the brisket. The bacon cheddar beans were very bland. I've had better canned refried beans. The red salsa was very oniony, as if onion was their base for it and forgot the tomatoes. Their queso was good, I'll give them that. The wait time was decent and our waitress was very nice. However, other staff seemed careless when an employee made a spill, he never returned to clean it. I several other employees walk right past it, and not even bother to put a sign up. A customer almost fell. The decor was a bit much. All in all, Abuelos will continue to be our top choice when wanting Tex Mex.
While we did have a few problems, I liked this new restaurant. The Queso was excellent. I had tacos and they were wonderful. My aunt said her fajitas were great. However, my daughter ordered chicken strips. They were just ok, but they were served with sweet potato fries with ranch poured over them. They do not have any regular fries to go with the chicken. My cousin did not like the scrambled eggs that she ordered for brunch. The waitress was nice but slow. I think she was just new. Also, the call ahead seating does not help much. We called ahead and still waited 2 hours.
While the NEW has worn off, the excitement of an outstanding menu and unique dining atmosphere has not. This is quality dining by Metroplex standards. If that standard means little to you, remember that just over a year ago a hole in the wall on Abilene's north side was acclaimed "Abilene's best". This is dining and quality at a higher standard, thank goodness! Love their appetizers and the fish and shrimp tacos are to die for. Thank you, Miguel's for raising the bar in the "Friendly Frontier".
We don't usually go out any more because I have culinary gifts that are more satisfying than restaurants but Lucy's is pretty much where we go when we want a meal out. I LOVE the burgers, the buns, the wonderful service and the best sweet potato fries ever. The hot tomato ketchup/pepper sauce is worth the trip.
Fantastic authentic Mexican food! The food is definitely different than any other Mexican food in Abilene or with-in 100 miles for that matter. Very complex flavors in every thing on your plate. Also, the Décor was very thought out. The owner told me all of the tile art was hand painted. Top Notch for Abilene!!
My family and I came here because my coworkers told me about this place . When we ordered our food , we were very impressed with the portions and the taste of the hot fish , shrimp and the oysters. I would recommend this place to everyone looking for a new place to try . And the atmosphere was very friendly.
Sometimes it's awesome, other times it's hit and miss. Nothing is consistent. Sometimes they have the items for the food and drinks you enjoy, other times they are out. Today, I was served a salad with a chicken leg on the bone - skin on - on top of my salad.
Atmosphere was fantastic. The service is beyond terrible! The food was decent and the salsa served with the chips is disgusting! Time will tell! Abilene is funny with new places. Hopefully service gets better because right now it's awful.
Food was great just the two hour wait for it was a little irritating. I will give it another try in about 6 months once the staff figures out what they are doing and how to do their job. Not recommend at this point in time.
We went hunting for "good breakfast burritos" in Abilene. Ran across Diego's Burritos and feel that we got a lucky find! Tasty Burritos, friendly crew, clean tables...what more do you need for a Saturday Morning?
