Abilene Family Medical Associates
Dr Longley has been my family doctor and all of my family's doctor for over 10 years. He is kind and very good at diagnosing any and everything with my family. I am diabetic and have heart problems he has never failed to send me to a specialist when needed. He diagnosed my daughter with a suspicious place on her hip and sent her to Dr Urbans office in which he was correct on the diagnosis. He recently sent my husband to Dr Urban and thank you so much Dr Longley that you caught it just in time. He would never dismiss any patient without a good reason. You know Dr's need their money as well as anybody in this economy,he has never ever over dosed anybody. If you people think it's easy to find a good doctor as he is in abilene then good luck on that because I take care of my cousin with CP and I have to take him all the way to Eastland because he has medicaid and medicare and the Hendrick doctor he had was very rude and told him to suck it up for the pain and take aleve,do you think Dr Longley would have treated him like that NO WAY.So good luck on finding another doctor. And the anonymous that called him a Hitler well I call you scum and you can't even put your name out there so I will sign mine ok.Signed Sandy and Ken Mills.

I had a very difficult experience with the delivery of my first child and I was understandably concerned about my daughter. My pregnancy was a high risk one and I left the Army and moved back to Abilene at 6 months pregnant. Dr. Anderson dispelled a lot of my fears and made sure that my baby was healthy. he gave me instructions to make sure that I was keeping myself healthy as well. The wait at the office was always a little longer than I'd like but my appointments with him always went wonderfully well. The day i was induced, he came in and told me the approximate time that I would be delivering and he was right within 5 minutes. The delivery went perfectly and my follow-up appointments did as well. I would recommend Dr. Anderson to anyone looking for an OB/GYN and if I ever have another child, I will be under the care of Dr. Anderson.

If you have a healthy child Dr. Capra is fine. If you have a child with medical issues requiring more than basic checkups, DO NOT choose Dr. Capra. I needed paperwork filled out by Dr. Capra. His office kept said paperwork for over a week & it was never filled out; The whole thing would've taken less than 15 minutes from start to finish. My child was his patient since birth & he was aware of our medical condition. After that experience, I immediately switched pediatricians, I chose Dr. Tushar Shah. At our 1st appointment I explained what my paperwork entailed & he completed it and returned it to me the very same day.

Dr. Tushar M Shah, MD
Terrific pediatrician, very patient and kind with little ones. I love the staff at this clinic, everyone is friendly, warm, inviting and welcoming. I chose this doctor on the good advice of a friend who takes her 5yr. old to Dr. Shah. Wonderful for military members, pain-free records & paperwork. Well versed with EFMP issues as well.

Russell Dickerson MD
Dr. Dickerson and his staff treated me with the highest degree of professionalism and courtesy for my visit. They made a difficult test as easy as possible and shared results with me immediately. I highly reccommend his services.
Tips & Advices
A child should see his or her pediatrician frequently during the first few years. Once the child reaches age 3, parents should schedule a doctor's visit at least once per year. Before that, however, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests parents arrange visits according to the following schedule:
  • 2 to 5 days old
  • 1 month old
  • 4 months old
  • 6 months old
  • 9 months old
  • 12 months old
  • 15 months old
  • 24 months old (2 years)
  • 30 months old (2.5 years)
No, parents should call 911, an emergency physician, or a pediatric emergency physician if a child suffers an acute illness or injuries. Doctors in these fields are more qualified than pediatricians to handle emergency situations.
A well-visit is a routine visit with a pediatrician to track a child's development, discuss medical or emotional concerns, and receive immunizations and medical advice.
Yes, pediatricians provide immunizations for infants and children up through 21 years.
No, pediatricians do not have to be board certified. They're only required to have a state license. However, certification indicates a dedication to studying pediatrics beyond the requirements.
