Overall
No Nap and Poor Nutritional Program

I'm giving Kid Academy a "good" rating because my child has developed friendships, has socialized well, learned new things and most of the teachers are very loving and caring. But unfortunately, I haven't been 100% happy bringing my child here. Kid Academy pushed very hard for my child to be potty trained. While I was anxious for it to happen as well, I felt intense pressure from the Director and the Teacher to get my child fully potty trained. This was very hard to do given that my child did not nap and I had to deal with an overtired child at the end of the night. When I complained about the nap issue, the Director told me that they would do their best but, to quote her "Quite frankly, [your child] doesn't need a nap." Really? A 2.5 -3 year old doesn't need a nap? I would have believed her if it weren't for the fact that my pediatrician told me that if my child still naps on the weekends, then my child still clearly needs a nap during the week. Plus, I don't take kindly to being told what my child needs. I'm the parent and I know what is best for my child.

Additionally, I requested (on numerous occasions) that they not give my child sugary treats or candy as rewards for good behavior. But on countless times, I'd come in early and watch the teachers open large bags of candy and distribute to the children. The snacks they provide are low quality and generally consist of either vanilla sandwich cookies, goldfish or pretzels. That's it. It never changes. That's what they give. You'll never see a fresh fruit, vegetable, whole grain or nitrate free protein served here. I send in lunch and items are often returned to me, including the main lunch item.

So, basically, if you do not care about your child getting a nap and you don't care about what they eat, this is a great place to take your kid. I have had mixed feelings about changing daycares because there have been many positives about this place. But I'm going to change centers because I feel like this issue will never be resolved and I just can't deal with an overtired child on a sugar crash anymore. Each and every evening has been me + dreary-eyed, stumbling, cranky child with 1-2 bouts of nightmarish screaming before bed. My child is generally very sweet and happy and we do not have this problem on the weekends when naps are a part of the routine. It's bad enough I have to be away from my child all day. But to deal with this during traffic and at night and have my child need to go to bed at 6:30pm - it's just insane.
