Dr. Lazarus has expertly treated many animals that I've had in my care, pets, wildlife, strays, sometimes in difficult situations, emergencies and non-emergencies, for critical care and for consultation. Always with respect and understanding for both the patient and human, providing referrals when necessary. Years ago some dear friends' dog had been hit by a car in the early dawn hours. The emergency hospitals were too far away. Grief stricken and shocked, carrying their dog's limb body in their arms, they didn't know where to go. The dog was barely breathing. I called ahead to Rippowan, praying that they'd be able treat her before they'd even opened for the day. When my friends arrived, in less than 20 minutes later, the Dr.s and staff were prepped and ready, standing by to receive them. The little dog has recovered, even through her head trauma. She is still the active, playful, jet setting, joy in my friends' hearts. They too, are eternally grateful for all that Dr. Lazarus did and his hospital, and ethics in practice.
