Botched sale

I made an offer for a car Brighton had on consignment. The sellers accepted as confirmed to me in an email from the Brighton sales manager. The deal included a hardtop which was in another state and was contingent upon photographs of the top being provided to me. The sales manager stated he hoped to have photos within 24 hours at which point I would make the deposit. He requested my personal information to draft the sales order and I provided this the same day.Two days later with no contact from Brighton, I emailed the sales manager. With still no contact 2 days after that, I left a voice mail message on his cell. I tried again the next day as well. One full week after my offer was accepted, I tried again. No answer. I then called the business and reached him and was told the sellers had contacted a local "friend" who had purchased the car instead. This had taken place the day before and the sales manager had "intended" to call me.Honesty and integrity walk hand in hand and you can't have one without the other. Brighton told me the owner accepted my offer. If the owner then arranged another deal, Brighton should have stood by their commitment to me even though the seller did not. They should have insisted that the out-of-state owner either conclude the original deal or remove the car from their premises and consummate the transaction themselves. THAT would have been honest.

For a business which publicly advertises its "honesty," let me say this. Honesty and integrity walk hand in hand and you cannot have one without the other. Brighton told me the owner had accepted my offer. If the owner then went behind their backs and arranged another deal, Brighton should have stood by their commitment to me even though the seller did not. Great work and quick friendly service on collector cars!

Great shop with really cool cars both on the showroom and in the mechanical shop. Paul is really friendly and these guys really know the collector cars. Highly recommended. Great place to visit just to see the cars!
