Dental Examination
To determine your course of treatment, we begin with a thorough oral examination, radiographs if needed, and a review of your medical history. Diagnostic photos and casts of your teeth may be taken to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. A consultation appointment will then be arranged to answer questions and discuss the goals and options of your treatment plan.

These disorders from an imbalanced bite include headaches, pain, sensitivities, tooth mobility, wear, enamel cracking or even tooth loss. Many patients come to our practice after having a long history of dental interventions by other dentists including crowns, bridges, fillings, tooth replacements, and adult orthodontics. In these therapies the bite can be imbalanced or thrown off center. Dr. Cody is able to restore the harmonious location for the teeth to chew and function in a comfortable and long-lasting manner while still highlighting the importance of dental aesthetics.

Each March and August, Dr. Cody will be traveling to Operation Smile’s craniofacial center in Managua, Nicaragua to provide comprehensive dental care to children with cleft lips and palates. In addition, he will be teaching dental students from UNC principles in restorative dentistry and lecturing on prosthodontic topics relating to craniofacial care. By combining the students and specialists from UNC School of Dentistry with the facility and volunteers from Operation Smile Nicaragua, we aim to provide the best possible care to our patients.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Cody was the recipient of the American College of Prosthodontics Award for outstanding clinical proficiency in prosthodontics, the Quintessence Award for outstanding clinical achievement in periodontics, and the Mary Lawson Award for good will, caring, and compassion to others. Dr. Cody had practiced privately in Simsbury and Storrs, Connecticut, and was a part-time faculty member at the University of Connecticut Department of Restorative Dentistry before moving to Portland. Dr. Cody has lectured to dentist groups on the topics of dental implants and occlusion, and has published several professional articles in these areas. He maintains active membership in the American Dental Association, the Maine Dental Association, the Greater Portland Dental Society, PEAC Dental Fraternity, The American Equilibration Society, and the Dawson Alumni Association.
