Since 1982, Dr. Mike Martin has been proud and privileged to care for generations of families in Oakwood and the surrounding Gainesville-Hall County area. His son, Dr. Ben Martin, joined the practice in August 2016. We believe that understanding your dental health is the key to making decisions about your care. Teeth Cleaning
We believe that a fun, casual first meeting is the ideal way to introduce the sights and sounds of the dental office to your child. We pace this visit based on your child's interest and response to the dental environment. Sometimes it is just a ride in the “spaceship” (dental chair) or a teeth cleaning while your child holds “Mr. Thirsty” (the suction) and learns what we are all about.
Fluoride Treatment
We recommend that our patients visit our office every 3-6 months for routine checkups, cleanings and periodontal maintenance. At this visit, we will take necessary digital xrays, and the doctor will perform a thorough dental examination to evaluate the condition of your teeth and jaw joints. We may recommend fluoride treatments for your child to help prevent tooth decay.
Dental Sealants
A dental sealant is a plastic coating that is painted onto the chewing surface of a tooth to seal deep grooves that can sometimes be an entry point for decay-causing bacteria.

Fillings
Resin Composite
When a tooth needs minor repair, a dental filling may be used. Composite resin plastic fillings are available in natural-looking shades and may be used to restore small areas of teeth that have been damaged by decay or chipping. The affected area is shaped to retain the resin material, which is then bonded to the tooth surface and adjusted for bite balance and appearance.
Veneers
Porcelain Veneers are thin custom-shaped facings that adhere to teeth to cosmetically enhance their appearance with smooth, highly polished porcelain. Veneers can usually be applied with minimal to no drilling or tooth preparation and are frequently used to correct color discrepancies, reshape teeth, close spaces, conceal rotated or undersized teeth, or smooth chipped and worn edges.
Crowns
Composite fillings are a practical means of restoring small defects with minimal removal of natural tooth structure, or, as a buildup material in preparation for a permanent crown.
Bridges
Dental Bridges are a fixed replacement for missing teeth which relies on adjacent teeth to support a “false” tooth (or multiple teeth) to fill the space created by tooth loss. A bridge can be supported by natural teeth or is sometimes supported by dental implants.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding can be a less costly approach to achieve minor esthetic changes in front teeth. A pliable composite resin plastic material is applied to the tooth surface and hardened with a special curing light to restore small areas that have had decay removed or as a cosmetic solution to smooth chipped edges and close small spaces between teeth.

Root Canal Treatment
When one or more teeth are missing, adjacent teeth can shift into the open space and jaw bone levels can deteriorate over time. If a patient's teeth are lost at an early age, this can result in serious and costly oral health problems in later years. If the root of a tooth becomes infected, the tooth itself can often be saved. A root canal is usually recommended to save the tooth and protect the bite whenever possible, rather than extraction.

Dentures
Partial & Complete Dentures are removable appliances that provide tooth replacement when multiple teeth have been lost due to disease or trauma. A removable partial typically has clasps that rest on natural teeth to secure a metal or acrylic base structure mounted with “false” teeth to fill spaces left by missing teeth. A complete denture replaces all the teeth in an upper or lower arch, and is generally the last option considered.

Digital dental technology and 3D imaging software allow us to make precise, calculated measurements of the bite and jaw structures to determine required length and depth of the implant to facilitate proper healing and encourage bone growth.
