Environment for Optimal Health

General Info
Ambiente Gallerie Brings the Sexy Back to Healthcare Grand opening introduces an ultra-modern mixed-use health gallery As visitors enter Ambiente Gallerie they may mistake the chiropractic office for a wing of the Walker Art Center, which is just what Dr. Kari Boudreau and architect Ali Heshmati intended. The artist-style space is an open warehouse loft flanked with exposed brick walls decked with original paintings and floating cloud lighting. The massage and exam rooms utilize curved, boomerang pivot doors covered with a translucent skin of fiberglass that offer privacy without feeling confined and truly do seem like something out of a futuristic movie. This adds to the mystery of what happens beyond them while contributing to the overall aesthetic. The main area features sheer fabric rooms that resemble ultra modern pods more than chiropractic treatment rooms. These fabric rooms can be easily hoisted up to the ceiling to make room for social events such as weddings, birthday parties, and art openings. “Instead of having the office unused after 7 pm or on weekends when Ambiente is closed, I wanted to make the space open like a co-op where yoga or Pilates instructors could rent time in this beautiful setting for their classes,” says Dr. Boudreau. “At the same time, sharing the space with others helps me offer affordable healthcare for my patients.” The creation of a new space in the 1910 warehouse in Northeast Minneapolis is part of the rebranding (and reconceptualizing) of the former Art of Chiropractic into Ambiente Gallerie with expanded chiropractic services including biomechanical evaluation, massage, nutrition counseling, women’s health, and accident rehab. The new office renovates an existing warehouse in Northeast Minneapolis to create both a chiropractic clinic and art gallery where, “Beauty is not an additive act but rather a coherent aesthetic. Anything else would be irrelevant,” says Heshmati. “We have been advocating a total and integral environment for both physical and mental wellbeing, in other words, a healthy environment must work on all levels.” The project began with Dr. Boudreau’s desire for integrating art and design into a healing space. This environment is as engaging for the eyes and mind as it is for the sense of touch. Touch is perhaps the most important Sense in healing when it relates to the art of chiropractic.
