Teeth Cleaning

Fillings
Most of us have had amalgam fillings (silver) or gold filling restorations. Some amalgam fillings were what we have called mercury fillings, as some amalgam fillings contained mercury. Metal fillings were effective, but very conspicuous and tended to blacken in color over time. Amalgam fillings may contain mercury, and are often referred to as metal fillings. Their safety has been in question for a number of years due to concerns over the absorption of elemental mercury contributing to several diseases, including Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, dementia and arthritis. The FDA investigations have not proven that the minute amount of mercury vapors released from silver fillings is a health hazard. Amalgam fillings are a mixture of mercury liquid and small pieces of silver and other metals such as copper, tin and zinc.
Resin Composite
Composite resin dental fillings were created as an alternative to traditional metal dental fillings. Tooth fillings colored to look like a natural tooth are known as Composite Resin Dental Fillings, are made of a plastic dental resin. Composite Resin Dental Fillings are strong, durable, and make for a very natural looking smile. Many dental insurance plans cover their use. There are no known health risks of receiving composite fillings. Composite resin dental fillings were created as an alternative to traditional metal dental fillings. Veneers
Veneers are a beautiful way to correct stained, discolored, chipped, cracked, damaged teeth, gaps or spaces between teeth and/or irregularly shaped teeth. A customized shell is placed over the surface of the tooth, dentists can provide patients with bright, aligned, and natural looking smiles. Dental flaws that may have been a source of embarrassment or discomfort for years can be corrected in as little as one or two appointments.
Crowns
If over half of your molar tooth’s biting surface is decayed an inlay or onlay may be a better option than a filling. These options are basically for when more than a filling is needed but less than a crown will do. An inlay is placed in between the cusps of the tooth, whereas an onlay will cover one or more of the cusps. They can be made of a gold alloy, porcelain or tooth-colored resin and are cemented into place.
Bridges
A bridge is a prosthetic, commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. Dental bridges are false teeth, which are anchored onto adjacent teeth to replace the missing teeth. The false teeth are known as “pontics” and are fused in between two crowns that serve as the anchors on each side of the missing teeth, thereby bridging them together.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal treatment is a procedure that involves removing inflamed or damaged tissue from inside a tooth and cleaning, filling and sealing the remaining space.

Dentures
If you are missing a few teeth, or if you have at least two teeth on both sides of the arch, then you can most inexpensively replace the missing teeth with a removable partial denture (RPD). There are several types of RPD’s.
Overdentures
If you are missing all your teeth, you need a full denture. There are several ways of doing this. You can have an implant overdenture, or a Snap on.. You can have a series of implants placed and teeth placed over these implants. This is the most comfortable and functional option. A common complaint of people who wear complete dentures is that they are hard to keep in place, resulting in problems eating and speaking, and also causing soreness as the teeth shift and rub on the gums.

A dental implant is the most natural looking way to replace missing teeth, and they provide the same function as your natural tooth.

Invisalign Orthodontics
Invisalign aligners are clear, people won’t even notice that you’re wearing them. Invisalign is removable. Unlike braces, you have the flexibility to eat and drink what you want during treatment by simply removing the aligners. Unlike braces, there are no metal brackets or wires. Invisalign also allows you to view your virtual results and treatment plan before you start so you can see how your teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
Braces
It’s a clear alternative to braces!!! Invisalign uses a series of aligners that are custom-fitted for your teeth. The clear almost invisible aligners gradually reposition, move your teeth to a smile you will be so proud of.

Teeth Whitening
A gel is applied to the teeth and then activated by a special light. This gel has a high concentration of peroxide.
