Dollar Rent A Car

Perhaps the slowest rent a car people on the planet. You know there is a real problem when waiting to collect your car takes longer than the flight! And the attitude is one you would expect fm social security. I was going to say the DMV but hey I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings. Pay the extra 20 bucks and go to Budget

Royal Rent-a-car is a royal fail company. Stay away.



Out of the entire floor of car rental companies at Miami international airport, Royal was the only one closed after 1:00AM. My flight was expected to arrive by 12:00AM, so I made the reservation at 12:30AM for pickup. However, it was delayed for an hour, so when I got there it was a little after 1AM. I was shocked that in this brightly lit building, the space for Royal was all dark and unattended.



I was charged a $50 "no show" fee and was refunded my reservation amount minus that fee. This is ridiculous.



I ended up with Budget. I should have just gone with budget in the first place. They are friendly, professional, attentive. The only reason I went with Royal was because through my online searches, Royal was the only one with a 12+ passenger van available below $600. Budget had one but it was quoted by Kayak at $900+. However, when I went to Budget, they gave me $519, which also includes some very nice extra features. I should have just called Budget and reserved with them. This price is only about $30 more than what Royal quoted me for the same vehicle (and who knows what kind of caveats and hidden costs they will throw at you).



Royal's policies are very well hidden in their website. I received no information about their hours or their cancellation policy. I made the reservation on my phone - the mobile version of their website tells you NOTHING. It only takes to reservations and cancellation. The email confirmation they sent me told me NOTHING. Nothing about their hours or the $50 fee.



Friends, when you are out and traveling, it is not worth it to risk ruining your entire trip schedule just to save some $20. Best to go with a larger company with good reputation and honest business practices.
