Physical examinations and X-rays are great diagnostic tools, but in some cases, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is needed to better diagnose pain, discomfort, or swelling in your feet, ankles, and lower legs. Unlike conventional X-rays or CAT scans, MRI scans do not use radiation, which makes this a valuable tool for patients who cannot undergo radiation-related tests. Also, MRIs are better at detecting soft-tissue conditions than X-rays.

When you get services from an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, certain providers there may be out-of-network. In these cases, the most those providers may bill you is your plan's in-network cost-sharing amount. This applies to emergency medicine, anesthesia, pathology, radiology, laboratory, neonatology, assistant surgeon, hospitalist, or intensivist services. These providers can't balance bill you and may not ask you to give up your protections not to be balance billed. If you get other services at these in-network facilities, out-of-network providers can't balance bill you, unless you give written consent and give up your protections.

Achilles Surgery
Achilles surgery is the treatment of choice for athletes and anyone with a high level of physical activity. The goal of the surgery is to reattach the torn Achilles tendon to its normal position. The procedure requires a small incision in the back of the leg near the ankle. The surgeon identifies the torn ends of the tendon and stitches them back together to repair the tendon.

He worked as a Medical Technologist for a short time before returning to school to pursue his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, IL. He then completed a podiatric surgical residency at Holladay Park Medical Center in Portland, OR.

Dr. Trombello graduated from The California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco where she earned a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree.

For the past 15 years I've been a patient of Dr. Schatz. A painful heel problem brought me in back then. Within moments Dr. Schatz nailed it: Plantar Fasciitis. I'd been limping for weeks and he took steps to correct it (possibly orthotics paid by my insurance.) Later, he surgically repaired 2 hammer toes. They'd caused discomfort for years. The surgery was a breeze and was performed at the Pacific Surgical Institute in town. Now I see Dr. Schatz and his staff for fungal nail care. The nail technicians are absolutely the best! They are gentle and efficient, often doing the nail care in 10 minutes or so. It's comfortable and never hurts. I love those appointments! The Ankle and Foot Clinic is great in that it's fairly small, one story and is just so accessible, a real asset when you have feet issues. The parking is very convenient for easy access into the clinic. Last, you will love Dr Schatz and his staff.

I would strongly recommend you see Dr. Schatz if you are having any foot or ankle pain, his clinic is simply the best.

Dr. Schatz is amazing. I got my right foot surgery done by him in 2012 and I got excellent results. My surgery was for bunion problem and he did a fantastic job for me! In 2018 I needed the same surgery on my left foot. Dr. Schatz did not have a contract with my insurance anymore, still I went back to him and got my left one done with him, even if I had no coverage and I paid out of pocket. This was the best decision I made! He is a superb surgeon! I hope he works for many years, making people healthier and more comfortable with his work. Good feet change your life!
